This 1970 GTO is 1 of 1,986 built with a 455 HO engine and a TH400 TurboHydramatic transmission. Total GTO production for 1970 was 40,149. The car was manufactured at the GM Arlington, TX plant, in September of 1969 and delivered to Wysong Motors in Nevada, MO. This is an original GTO with all numbers matching documentation from PHS. In addition, the original assembly line build sheet, which was taped on top of the fuel tank at the assembly plant, was removed intact and is available. This artifact is part of the document package that will come with the car. This is a driver with an all original, numbers matching engine and drive train. The Quadrajet, Intake, Block, Heads, Exhaust Manifolds, Transmission, and Rear Axle are all original. The sheetmetal is all original with the exception of the rear exterior package tray that was replaced by a previous owner. The exterior paint has been updated from the original Granada Gold Metallic to a brighter gold metallic, a match for 1970 Coronado Gold Metallic, and a new black Cordova top. The undercarriage is very clean and solid, with minimal surface rust. The engine compartment is clean and neat with the original dual snorkel air cleaner with chrome top, original chrome valve covers, and the original air conditioning compressor (it works). The instrumentation (Temp, Fuel, Oil, GEN, Speedo) is fully functional with the exception of the original tach in the gauge cluster, this was disabled when the hood tach was added. Even the cigarette lighter works. The car currently wears 15" American Racing Torque Thrust Wheels, 245/60/15 Front, 255/6/15 Rear. Also included with the car are a set of 5 original - 1970 Rally II wheels with red PMD center caps. The wheels are coded JT, which are the 1970 year match for the car. The interior features the original Sandalwood color with a notch back front bench seat with fold down armrest. The driver’s side has a split on the upper seat front left side, a small split on the seat bottom, and a small tear on the lower seat side above the seat belt retractor. The rear seat is in excellent condition. The steering wheel is a formula style wheel with gold spokes and a “firebird” horn cap. From the brilliant shine of the gold metallic exterior to the throaty sound of the Magnaflow exhaust, the car is a real head turner.
