Vehicle Detail

This car is in daily driver condition, but needs some work to be completely reliable. The car runs and drives, and looks pretty good. This is a "Z" code 300hp Ford 390. From ehow.com:"Ford's 1962 Thunderbird came equipped with one of three engines, which correlated to the engine codes "M," "R" and "Z." The M-Code was a 390 high-performance Sports V8 that boasted 340 horsepower with a dual exhaust system and three two-barrel Holley carburetors. The R-Code engine was a 390 V8 with 275 horsepower. Also with a dual exhaust system, the R-Code had a four-barrel Holley carburetor. The Z-Code engine was essentially a mix of the two previous engines, a 390-cubic inch special V8 which put out 300 horsepower and shared the same carburetor and exhaust system as the R-Code engine."Exterior: Body is straight and is fine for a driver vehicle but missing some trim. Sheet metal is pretty good, no major dents, but a small one here or there. Roof needs grime buffed out. The car has been repainted; the maroon is not original. It's more of a candy red but the clear coat has been faded to a matte look. Original color was some kind of light sea green.Interior: Seats and carpeting are good. Dash and door panels are cracked and would need to be covered or replaced, but I've been driving with it as is. Steering wheel also could be covered as the plastic has cracked. Window mechanisms and other interior levers probably need some greasing, but windows roll up and down just fine with a bit of persuasion. Some rust on metal trim around windshield.Engine/tranny: Works fine for a driver but smokes a bit. It is 50 years old! However, it runs just fine and I've been driving it daily with no engine or shifting problems. All tires have good tread and are in good shape! Brakes are good and pads still have some life left. May need some adjustment to prevent drag on wheels. Parts I have:-Hubcaps-Suspension rebuild kit (~$400)-Original radio-New shocks (worth a couple hundred dollars) Needs fixing: -High beams (I think it's just the floor switch needs replacing)-Wiring up the radio-Oil pan drain plug leak (try teflon tape on drain plug or replace oil pan)-Tranny leak (I haven't diagnosed this yet), -Replace brake booster reservoir cap (leaks), -Power steering fluid cap (leaks), -Some front suspension components (I have the rebuild kit and am currently replacing parts here and there. You will probably need an idler arm bushing $20)-Radiator leaks (probably will have to replace, or use stop leak. Only leaks when full up to surge tank. Have had no overheating issues)-Heater/ac wiring. Heater is always on. Can disconnect wire to shut air off. Not a big deal in fall/winter time. That's all I know really. It wont take much work to make this car totally reliable. Right now it's driveable but the leaks should be taken care of to avoid drips.
