Vehicle Detail

Honda CB500 KO. 1971. 4150 original miles. This is a two owner California bike in outstanding condition. This is the KO model, first year model of the 500 four cylinder series. It has several features unique to this year that you will not see in any of the later 500 or 550 series 4 cylinder bikes. Like the KO sandcast CB750, this 1971 CB500 KO has the same small taillight assembly type like the sandcast CB750, and the same small turn signals not the overly large ones on later years, also this model has a one year only seat with unique pattern to the seat top upholstery; the seat lock is unique to the 1971 too as are the two gauges. It is in perfect running condition. I have had several CB500 and CB550s through the years in this one is the sweetest running one I have ever had. Starts instantly cold or hot, idles perfectly- and I mean it idles like one of the modern bikes- really really smooth, very impressive. And the engine is quiet as can be and revs smoothly with no flat spots through to red line. It is faster than any CB550 I have had. It has to be the ultra low miles that makes the engine so strong. The overall condition as can be expected for such a low miles bike is excellent, with everything mechanical and electrical component working as it should. All the lights, headlight low-high beam, taillights, brake lights, turn signals, horn, even the light for the gauges work. The battery is new.The tires are Japanese made Dunlops with almost new treads. The wheels are excellent with perfect spokes and nipples with very clean hubs. The brakes work perfectly front and rear. The paint is all original in really nice condition that has that very attractive patina that the Hondas get, only slight fading on the gas tank top that I think looks really cool, depending on the angle the color changes. I would not even consider repainting it. The tank is straight as can be and is clean inside. The fuel petcock works perfectly with no leaks. The side covers have the original paint in really nice condition with almost no fading, no cracks or missing tabs. For safety a new drive chain was just fitted. The chrome is all original that through the years has lost a bit of it's shine and has slight surface peppering barely visible only up close. Again, I like the look of it and would not consider rechroming any of it.The exhaust system is truly in amazing condition. No damage of any kind with excellent chrome. Not even any traces of surface rust, no dents or any scratches. Again a testament to the ultra low miles. The original tools and owner's manual is included.CB500 KO on great condition with such low miles are not easy to find. And I really like the garnet brown color, not too flashy, just understated enough. If you like to ride your bikes you will be very impressed by the really tight and smooth ride of this bike.I have had it for about 2 years and every now and then I ride it on the canyon roads and it is a real blast, the bike is light and easy to handle and the engine has a surprising amount of power, not too much so that you waste most of it when riding. For me lighter bikes like this one are much more satisfying to run on mountain roads than heavier bikes.ORIGINAL BIKES LIKE THIS ARE DISAPPEARING FAST, IT WILL ONLY BECOME MORE AND MORE VALUABLE.Bike located in Hollywood, California.Anyway.... whoever buys this one will never regret it. I am selling for personal reasons. Please pay the full amount within 5 days of auction end by bank wire transfer or cashier's check. No paypal. Clear California Title included. I have been asked if the bike has had a recent service. Bike has been fully serviced. Ready to ride, with no issues whatsoever. This bike will cruise on the interstate at 75 mph all day long with easy top speed of over 105 mph.
