1973 BMW R75/5SHORT WHEEL BASE AIRHEAD Here is your opportunity to own a classic BMW motorcycle that has some rare options. This auction is for a '73 R75/5 BMW short wheel base airhead with 46190 original miles. The motorcycle comes with a rare police style gas tank. This tank has a cutout in the top where a police radio and siren controls originally went. After the bike/tank was taken out of service, the control box was removed and the tanks were fitted with a lid so that it could be used like a glove box. It is similar to a BMW /2 Sport tank. It should be noted that this bike is not a police bike. I purchased the tank and installed it on this bike. This bike also comes with period Wixom panniers that are solid with no cracks or other damage. These bags are easily removable and installed quickly when you need them. Also included is the brand new Scorpion gel battery and Corbin Gunfighter seat. This seat, along with the new low European style handlebars and bar end mirror, really make this BMW look sporty while still being comfortable to ride. It is very reliable and has truly been a joy to own. The bike needs nothing to be a daily driver. If I were to keep the bike I would replace the header pipes as they are discolored and rusted. Please understand that this bike is original and unrestored. While it looks great in the pictures, it is not perfect and does come with minor wear and tear that is consistent with a 40 year old motorcycle. The sale of this bike does not include any type of warranty. I am in the Warren/Youngstown, Ohio area and would encourage anyone to inspect the bike before they bid. It is for sale locally but I will agree not to sell it until this auction has ended. I can assist with commercial shipping arranged by the buyer. I also have a small trailer and will deliver this bike within the northeast Ohio/Western Pennsylvania area for a prearranged fee and agreed destination providing that the bike is paid for in full before I leave my driveway. I will expect a $500.00 deposit through PayPal or by cashiers check within 72 hours of the auction ending unless other agreed upon arrangements have been made.
