Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1974 Honda XL250. This bike was stored in a warehouse since the late 1970's up until later last year when the first owner past away. I came across the bike at an estate sale and restored it to its original factory condition, if not better! The bike has been meticulously cleaned and all parts are original or OEM...it is incredible. I'd argue that its the cleanest 74' xl250 in the nation.ONLY 2,731 MILES The bike starts first kick (with no choke!)---ENGINE RUNS PERFECTLY-through all gears with smooth shifts, great compression! Throughout the restoration I addressed the following items on the bikeFull dismantling, including engine from frame and every other part, I hand cleaned every partNew tiresRebuilt forks with new fluid, seals, and dust guardsAll electrical works perfectly, this includes; hi & low beam headlight, tail light, front and back blinkers, break sensors, flasher relay, fuses (with backups), neutral and blinker indicator lights in cluster, switches, horn, & ignition.New 6v batteryAll aluminum has been polished, including fork tubes, rocker covers, and points covers. The tank has been acid washed and cream sealed so no worries about rust.Carburetor has been cleaned Oil changed less than 100 miles ago Original paint on tank with a clear coat added to the sides but the top left matte to show the patina Wheel bearings are in great shape and lubedChain and sprockets are in great shape New spark plugAll cables have been oiledDrum brakes are in great shape and showed practically no signs of wear, I gave them a light sand to ensure best adhesion since they sat for so long, they work great! The only 2 minor flaws that this bike has is that the speedometer doesn't keep accurate speed (needle sits around 20mph) and its missing the turn toggle to reset the trip meter. You're probably wondering why I didn't replace this if i did everything else, right? Here's your answer--- The speedometer and odometer are in the same cluster, by replacing the cluster I would have lost the value of my original with only 2,731 mi. The speedometer and odometer work on the same cable but separately inside the cluster so it keeps an accurate mile, i've checked! I bought this bike as a side project because i had shoulder surgery and couldn't work over winter. The longer i hold on to it the more i want to keep it so it must go for a new project to be started. I get stopped MULTIPLE times every day i ride it by people complementing me on how cool of a bike it is. It is a VERY RARE model, one of the few that came out with the blue and orange paint scheme. I hope the next owner gets as much joy out of it as i have. The bike comes with the original owners manual, original tool kit, Clymer manual, and 2 keys which both open the fork lock, seat latch, and ignition Since the bike sat for 30+years it was out of the DMV system, I went through all the hoops and got it registered. All fees are paid and up to date until 3013California Title in hand Local pickup only or you can organize a shipping company to deliver it. I will help with up to 25 miles but, I assume no responsibility for shipping.ONLY UNITED STATES BUYERS HAPPY BIDDING!
