The Blazer was designed and marketed to compete with International Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. Both of these were originally aimed at the short Jeep CJ series, which were much smaller than other trucks. The great innovation of the Blazer was to simply offer a shortened pickup truck, which both increased interior space, and lowered the cost of production with a shared platform. The Blazer quickly became popular. For the first time, it married the off-road capabilities of the Scout with the "luxury" features like air conditioning and automatic transmissions routinely available on pickup trucks. By 1970, the Blazer was already outselling both of its older rivals, and the second generation Blazers were only produced from 1973 to early 1991... It’s in great condition throughout! 1982 saw the Detroit Diesel 6.2 introduced. All the mechanics work properly, looks great and is fun to drive! This very rare Blazer Silverado convertible is in great condition everywhere you look. ‘83 K-5 Blazer Silverado Convertible model year and is a very rare to find one for sale, let alone one that is in the condition this one is. I have the original paperwork when this truck was bought new in Colorado and spent most its life there. The best part it is covered in the correct factory color of Colonial Yellow with White top and Tan cloth interior. This Blazer has factory gauges, and am/fm/ radio tilt wheel and everything works great. This Blazer came with the upgraded Silverado option that was more of a luxury 4x4 with this truck also came with factory air conditioning, with several other options as you can see in the original purchase order. The engine bay is nice, it still has factory markings under the hood the paint is very nice as is every piece of chrome and stainless. Turn over the 6.2 Detroit diesel V-8 engine, this truck runs strong. Driving it, you will appreciate the ride and handling characteristics. The optional 4-speed auto transmission shifts smoothly, the brakes stop the car quickly and securely. The body is in very nice condition. The metal is clean and straight with no signs of damage. The paint is smooth and reflects everything in sight. The chrome is in very nice condition overall, all the glass is in great shape. The Raised white letter radials are also newer and add to the look. The underside is solid with no evidence of rot. All the mechanical components are in good repair.
