Vehicle Detail

A great piece of Corvette history can be yours! This NO RESERVE auction is for a very rare and original 1956 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible finished in the gorgeous original color combination of Venetian Red with Shoreline Beige coves and Red interior. Details: This car is equipped with a 265ci, 225 hp Engine with 2x4 carburetors and a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission. This is a numbers matching car - the block is correct and dated properly (casting #3720991, casting date C 21 6; 3/21/56), stamping 0389969F56FG is the correct stamping for this car. The current odometer reading is X05948 where X is the uppermost digit not captured by the odometer. Most all factory correct type components including the heads, manifolds, generator, carburetors, master cylinder, transmission, distributor, air cleaners, spare, jack and tools, trunk mat, trunk liner, etc. Note that this car has the original windshield washer bag with Trico cap, the original domed Eaton gas cap, the original asbestos lined air cleaners, the original white shift knob and correct long pin fuel pump as this is an early '56, and the correct thumb screw adjusted rear view mirror that differentiates this car from the '57. Only 22 cars were produced with the combination of options this car has - Wonderbar signal-searching AM radio, heater, courtesy lights, windshield wipers, parking brake alarm. Also included are a restored hard top to match and a newer white soft top. This car originally came with a power soft top and although the cylinders were removed several of the switches are still in place (see 14th picture). Wide whitewall radials with less than 3,000 miles (older bias ply tires as well). Condition: Body-on restored including engine, transmission, paint and chrome with only about 5,000 miles on them. The frame and fiberglass are in excellent condition. The body seams and fit are excellent. The emblems have been replaced and are in excellent condition. The paint work is beautiful with only tiny chips and very minimal crazing. The front and rear bumpers and door post chrome is in good condition with some pitting. The windshield and stainless steel trim is in very good condition. The interior upholstery and carpeting is in excellent condition. The gauges are all original and in good condition with some chrome pitting. The engine compartment is very original in appearance and in very good condition. The car has received multiple awards including celebrity choice awards from Arthur Colussy, Editor of Corvette Enthusiast magazine; Ken Amrick, Editor of "On Solid Ground," the Solid Axle Corvette Club's quarterly magazine, and Joe Calcagno, well respected solid axle Corvette enthusiast and owner of RARE Corvettes in CA. In addition to being truly beautiful cosmetically, this awesome automobile runs and drives like a gem! The not so fine print: No trades will be considered. Please do not bid if you have negative or no feedback. Deposit of $1,000 required within 24 hours of auction close, accepted through Paypal only. Balance of payment due within 10 days of auction close as a major recognized US bank wire transfer only (no Wstrn Un, Mnygrm, etc.) and payment must clear before the vehicle will be released. Buyer will be provided with wiring instructions once the deposit is received. Sold as is, where is and shipping arrangements and fees are Buyer's responsibility. I've tried to capture the true condition and nuances of the car in this listing but I'm only human and mistakes are possible. Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have prior to bidding. The car is available for inspection by serious potential Buyers or their agents. Additional information is available upon request. Please contact Heather through eBay or by phone 410-596-1052.
