Vehicle Detail

Own the most unique Tahoes on Ebay! Make me an offer! Lets talk.  Here is what we started with. A clean one owner Tahoe from Texas with 38k original miles. Bone Stock! Presently the odometer reads 42,500 miles. The milage will change somewhat, because I'm still driving it around town. I set out to build a HOT ROD style Tahoe that I could haul my young children around with, take in some local cruise nights, and attend some car shows long distance in comfort. As we all know, most of the fun is building them and figuring everything out. I have succeeded, and now it's time to move on to my next project. This Tahoe gets a lot of looks. It's proper stance has been achieved with a lot of trial and error. It's perfect! The big and little tire combination is old school, and it is set apart from all of the slammed on the ground 22 inch trucks and tahoes on the road. This is a Driver-nothing rubs and has no airbags to fail. Lowered the way it was meant to be done. I've driven about 4,000 miles since all of the modifications have been performed. I have a copy of the original title as well. Production Facts-1998 11,097 2dr. chevy tahoe’s produced in 1998***** 336 painted copper bronze (65U), 55  light neutral vinyl interior (52V)***** Built Date 9.19.1997-entered demo service, Roberts Chevy-Edinburg, Texas****** Original Miles-42,500 second owner-extremely low for being 15 years old********* Engine & Trans 5.7L 350 cubic inch-4L60E trans-bone stock for reliability********* Rarity 1 of 11 built with this color combo-especially with low miles************ Bitchin Stance belltech: front 5 1/2”, rear 8”- no rubbing-perfect driver********** Schott Challenger Rims front-17x7 (4.25 backspacing) ****** rear-18x9 (4.5 backspacing) brushed and clear coated-easy to maintain-no polishing*********** Toyo Versado Tires front 225/60/17 rear 245/60/18********** Exhaust flowmaster cat-back with custom tail pipe********** Front Bumper 1999 chevy tahoe diesel (two large air holes) painted flat factory color modified three inches closer to body********** Rear Bumper 1967 chevy truck narrowed and contoured 6 inches & painted flat*********** Outside Mirrors 1990 chevy 454ss pickup-flat black************ Spare Tire correct rim & tire with 4.5 backspacing (215/55/18)-very important********** Steering Wheel 1950 chevy NOS center cap with custom machined aluminum adaptor********** Pinstripe Jerry Campbell - custom orange and brown************ Factory Stock Oddities vinyl seats, rubber floor, manual windows, & utility interior ******************* Here we see the front bumper which is from a diesel tahoe bumper option from Chevy, which has been treated to a flat look. **********************Rear bumper is from a 1967-1972 Chevy Truck that has been modified to fit and painted flat. The factory bumpers have always bothered me after lowering a Tahoe. All 2 door tahoes look fat in the rear when lowered with the factory bumper retained. Everyone who walks around this Tahoe goes to the rear bumper, stops, and gives a thumbs up. ******************Rear Stance: big and littles-Perfect big and littles for the perfect rake! One and 1/2 inch difference front to rear. The steering wheel is from a 1950 Chevy with a New Old Stock center button. I had a special one off solid aluminum adaptor made to accommodate the 50 chevy steering wheel. The adaptor is mounted to a Billet Specialities air bag delete chevy adaptor. Nice look and the big steering wheel makes parking a breeze as well as making your road trip more comfortable with your arm resting on top off the left door panel while cruising down the highway. -------------------------Here is the steering wheel that I picked up this summer at the NSRA Street Rod Show in York PA this year and the custom adaptor. New Old Stock (ebay purchased) ***************1950 Chevy Steering wheel center cap. I tried the steering wheel installed right side up, but I think it looks better upside down. So I modified the center cap to be installed the correct way. You can see it in the photo below. ************************Factory Rubber floor! Once again, Daily Driver, easily cleaned. Resting between the factory vinyl seats is a reproduction late sixties Chevy C10 truck console. The seat upholstery is perfect, no rips or tears and they look like they have just been installed. ********************* Here we can see the clean unmolested dash. No cracks of any kind. You can see the power door locks with manual windows. Back to basic look. Door panels are perfect. Included with your purchase is this Chevy S10 steering wheel with another solid aluminum adaptor. This steering wheel looks factory but without the air bag look. I will also include the original factory steering wheel with air bag. The airbag service light is presently on because the air bag has been removed. A small piece of black electrical tape is conspicuously placed over the light so as not to distract you while driving. The air bag steering assembly can be reinstalled if you so choose and the airbag light can be reset to go off. Also in this picture you can see the factory shift knob. I will include this shift knob with your purchase!  I purchased a brand new shifter from Chevy and cut off the factory end and machined and tap threaded the metal inside to accept this white shifter knob that is originally intended for a manual four speed shifter. The knob gives a nostalgia look and feel to the other wise factory looking interior. Schott billet wheels at it's finest. Here is one wheel right before the satin clear coat. They have just been brushed for that machined look. I wanted a virtually maintenance free exterior because of my over all theme of daily driver and back to basic look. These wheels just need to be wiped down with a damp cloth and they look like they were just installed. Everyone can appreciate this approach who has or presently owns a set of polished billet wheels.  My philosophy is if you want longevity and reliability there is no substitute for factory engineering. Chevy's engineers got it right. I never make any modifications to the factory engine and trans. Period! This Tahoe runs perfect, and any repair shop can make any repairs as long as it's BONE STOCK! This is a cruiser, not a go fast vehicle. Plenty of power, and cruises at 70 mph at 1,800 rpm's delivering a solid 18mpg average! Basic Utility Style Interior from the factory! This photo shows the factory location of the full size spare tire. I have since removed this tire because it can be seen from the outside and it detracts from the overall look.  ********************New spare tire from Schott wheels. This was an extra center laying around that was converted to a spare with the correct backspacing and tire size. The tire size of 215/55 R 18 will fit front and rear in the event of a flat tire. Most lowered vehicles do no address this issue. This Tahoe is a driver, and along with that theme comes the ability to deal with a flat out on the road! ********************* Also included is the correct socket with extension along with a torque wrench to make sure the spare is being installed to the correct torque spec. No issue with vibration at highway speeds. ****************Rear Bumper has been shorted and contoured to body. ********************This is the custom exhaust exiting out the rear. I have installed a cat-back Flowmaster system. Nice mellow sound. Not to loud. You can also see how the pinstripe and Greg Noll NOS vintage surfboard sticker is hiding the only paint blemish. The dark color is where the factory Chevrolet emblem was installed from the factory. From three feet away it cannot be seen. I am very fond of cars with all original factory paint. I did not see the need to have both rear barn doors repainted to eliminate the blemish. ***********************Perfect rear seat with three seat belts. *******************Rear seat folded down to show the large storage area for all of those great parts you just found at the swap meet! *******************Perfect headliner-nothing hanging down! ******************This photo shows the optional sport mirrors off of 88-94 chevy trucks. Nice and small. Great replacement for the large factory mirrors. You can also see the detail of the factory paint color and the custom pinstripe colors by Jerry Campbell of Delaware. *********************I took this photo with my iPhone. Pardon the quality. I just thought this photo was cool. Showing a stock 2dr 4 wheel drive next to a bitchin one!  NOT WORKING: the factory tape player does not work, however the radio works fine. The interior dome light does not work. I have not had the time to trace the repair. RECENT REPAIRS: New Brake Booster, A/C Accumulator & Orifice Tube and Oil & Filter Change. I have removed the Day Time Running light fuse. I hate having to drive during the day with your headlights on. My beginning description is confusing. I would like to clarify. I used a Belltech 4/6 lowering kit. I've had extensive experience with this kit having lowered over 20 chevy trucks and Tahoe's since 1988. We cut off an additional 1/2 a coil which lowers the front an additional 1-1/4 inches. We lowered the rear an additional 2 inches using a set of lowering blocks. Front has been lowered a total of 5 1/4 inches and the rear a total of 8 inches. This is as low as you can go without sacrificing ride quality. The ride quality on this Tahoe is amazing considering how much it has been lowered from stock. You will be amazed the first time you take her for a spin!
