Vehicle Detail
Up on the block is my S500 that I've had since November of '09. It's a low mileage car in original condition. It drives great and has plenty of guts with no hesitation. I've done a number of repairs and maintenance to it while in my possession, but it isn't perfect. For someone who loves the S-class 140 Benz, this would be a great hobby car. I just don't have the time to play with it like I'd like to. I bought it from a local gentleman who had it for several years and also took good care of it - he managed nuclear power plants for a living and seemed to be rather particular! It has the accessory AMG wheels that are an inch or two larger than original - no road rash. It also has 4 new tires with very low mileage on them. The spare hasn't been on the road. Climate control works great. Two sets of pristine floor mats - carpet and the winter rubbers. Everything works on the car, but it does have flaws which I will point out below and in the photos - I don't want to hide anything because I've bought eBay cars before and have been surprised - not in a good way. Items that need attention:Paint - the clearcoar is beginning to fade on the top surfaces. I see no evidence of any repainting on the main black. The body moldings and bumper skins have been repainted and are peeling in some places. Someone dinged my front bumper and cracked that bumper skin, and it is not in the proper position, but it isn't loose. There are a couple of small dings, and there is light key damage on one side just in the clearcoat.Sunroof doesn't leak, but it has the known issue of the roof insulation coming loose and the goo is sticking to the top painted surface, so I don't slide it back and forth. Up and down is no issue. Power antenna does not go up and down; radio and cassette still work as they should. Power locks function as they should. The IR key fob was broken by a valet and I don't know how to put it back together, so the key looks kinda weird. The remote did work prior to this. You can find them here on eBay.Seats and headrests all move and heaters work great. Front seats are showing some wear and there is some cracking on the passenger seat. Rear seat is flawless, as is the carpet, the doors, and the headliner. Trunk is also perfect. There is a squeak in the suspension that seems to be in a rubber-meeting-metal bushing - not too annoying, but there. I'm a big guy and hear it with the door open when I get in and out of the car. I can't pinpoint the side, but it is in the rear. The power steering is losing a little fluid over time. Since I've had the car, I've added less than a quart in 2-1/2 years, and it doesn't seem to leave any puddles. That's about all I can think of that needs attention. Nothing seriously affecting operation, but things I would fix if I had the time. Things I've done to the car over the past 2-1/2 years:New tires all around, Cooper 80,000 mile tires, April 5 last year.New windshield - caught a stone and it cracked.Replaced hydraulic accumulators in the rear suspension.Replaced transmission seal and filter, flushed and changed fluid.Replaced Bosch plugs and a coil, also an ignition module that failed. They're expensive!I've done some other things as well that sadly I've forgotten and misplaced the receipts for. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in the car and drive across the country tomorrow. If you have any questions, please email me and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. I'd consider delivering car (when paid) if we can come to an agreement on expenses, otherwise, pickup is in Pittsburgh, PA area. Thanks for looking!
