Vehicle Detail
NO RESERVE!!!! 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV - Gentleman's Racer Previous owner purchased in California in 1994. In 1998, the engine was freshened and the body was stripped to bare metal, some small rust spots were fixed and it was repainted 501 red with PPG Concept urethane (base/clear). Since that time, it has been driven few miles each year, but has seen a number of miles on the track. It has not been on the track since ~2005. Currently, the odometer reads ~107,000 miles. Exterior: - Rust-free body though some areas were repaired with new metal. But, it is clearly a CA car when you look at it from underneath. - PPG Concept Urethane base/clear paint over epoxy primer in 1998. - 1969 rear bumper installed; stock ’74 front bumper installed but overriders removed to make it look cleaner. - Original rear license plate light removed (since ’69 bumper has the light in it) - Original, clunky side marker lights removed (welded up holes) to clean up the appearance. - Hood springs are currently uninstalled and hinges have been modified with pins so that hood can easily be removed –a set of unmolested hinges in the sale. - Windshield cracked......a replacement windshield will be included in the sale.- Rear trunk fit is a little off- Driver door fit needs adjustment- There are a couple of dents and scratches (see pics with my finger) Interior: - New Interior installed - Dash has a dash cap installed – wood has been replaced – one hole exists down near interior light switch where an additional switch was once installed. - Gages are in good condition. But redundant gauges unplugged. Parking brake light stays on. - Oil Pressure, Oil T and Engine Temp gages have been tastefully installed in the dash. - Carpet has been replaced with loop pile sections - Fire extinguisher mounted to passenger floor. - Five point harnesses were installed, but currently just have the lap belts installed - A bolt-in roll bar was installed, but is currently removed - No radio is installed. Heater works fine. - Currently, the grab handles are not installed, but they will be included in the sale. - Trunk has stock carpet and mats (in decent shape). Drivetrain: - Original engine replaced ~1998 with one from another GTV – at that time it received new rings, seals and was generally freshened. - Cams are 105/48 (Euro) and ignition is a Shankle modified Marelli-Plex. Other than that, the engine is essentially stock. - Original SPICA FI is installed and works as it should – starts right up, pulls strong, etc… - An A/F gage has been installed - An electric fan with thermostatic control has been installed - Exhaust is a chrome Shankle header into 2.25-2.5” pipes through two Flowmaster mufflers (front and mid). It sounds great and is not too loud at cruising speeds. - Brakes are stock calipers/rotors with Porterfield pads, braided stainless steel lines and a cockpit adjustable proportioning valve installed. - Tires are new Sumitomo HTR 200 tires on 15x6 Panasports (195/60-15) Suspension - Springs are Ward and Deane (I am pretty sure) - Shocks are Koni yellows - Urethane bushings have been installed throughout - Upper front links are adjustable with spherical bearings (instead of rubber bushings). - A Panhard bar was installed in the rear and will be included in the sale – currently the stock T arm is back in. The car has been extremely reliable and essentially bullet-proof on the track and road. InspectionsInspections are welcomed and encouraged. You won't be disappointed! On Sep-23-12 at 04:51:02 PDT, seller added the following information: I had some questions that I thought I would share the answers to: Q) Do you have documentation on mileage and history from prior owners? A) The prior owner provided over 140 pages of documentation including pictures of all the body work, paint, etc. I found his bill of sale from 1994 that listed the miles as 77,732. Q) Is the bolt-on roll cage included? A) I do not have a cage for it but it does have mounting points for the cage and for 5 point harnesses. Q) What club/class was the car raced? A) .Last time car was raced was 2005. I did not race it while I owned it. I am not sure which class in VSCCA it was raced. Sorry.
