ABOUT PICTURES OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE... THERE IS ONLY LIGHT SURFACE RUST FOR THE MOST PART. THERE IS STILL ORIGINAL DEALER UNDERCOATING FLAKING OFF AND ORIGINAL WHITE PAINT SO IF YOU DON'T LOOK CAREFULLY YOU'LL THINK IT'S CRUSTY... IT'S NOT :-) Hello, The person who bought this camper bus new must have been flush with cash as I think they ordered almost every option available! The person your buying it from (Me) is a VW driver, not a collector. Which means I know all it's quirks and you won't get a surprise that I didn't know about if it sat in the garage and was only used for car shows and a couple yearly camping trips. I drive it daily and it is awesome. I have caught the split window bus fever again and scored a sweet '65 or this would stay a family member. We have had many great family adventures in this bus and now, hopefully, now, it's your turn. The main reasons I bought this bus are: - Low miles... While they are not exact miles, the odometer is a rare 6 figure odometer, so it will read up to 999,999 miles! Since I've owned it the O2 sensor warning light has only come on twice, which is every 3000 miles, so I know I've driven it less than 6000 miles, 165000 should be very close. - White Exterior Color... Much cooler camping than darker colors. - Rust... Or lack there of, We live in EASTERN Washington, desert conditions with about 300 days a year of sunshine. The pictures should show how dry this bus is. - Gas Heater... It was not getting a power source from the battery when I bought the bus. I took the front of the heater apart and inspected it before I fired it up. I barely had a flame mark on the burner, my guess is it was only test fired at the factory. It's a recirculating unit that draws air from the inside of the bus, very efficient. It's super clean and will blast you out in no time! Please see picture of Fluke meter reading heat output at register. This is a 1978 Riviera with Deluxe 1978 Westfalia Interior which meant it had the sink, stove and ice box. I removed the guts on the outside of the ice box for more storage and used it as a cooler, as they were horribly inefficient even when new. I have the rear overhead rack, but didn't install it. As well as the shelf bits that went over the fridge condenser to the left of the ice box. The stove/sink/110 volt system are not wired or plumbed, nor were there any holes cut in the body to do so or factory wires spliced. We have camped like that for a few years with great fun. It will be super easy to bolt down and plumb/wire, very simple instructions on The Samba and Ratwell's site. Dealership Options: - Eberspacher BN4 gas heater.---(Works Great!, see picture with Fluke meter pointing at heat register) - Air Conditioning---(not working, I was going to get one of Gilmore Enterprises(I have a link) super efficient compressors and lines, etc. uses less than 2hp!) - Trip Odometer Speedometer--- ( Speedometer works, odometer was working, little nylon drive gear broke.) You can get a new one at German Supply, I have a link. - Cruise Control---(Not working, it's a DANA corporation vacuum unit under the front splash pan, still there could probably get it working again) - VWOA chrome rear bumper Over Riders - Awning - Drive-Away Tent Extra Options: - Yakima Rack "Side Loader" artificial gutter rack attachment points for a 1A gutter mount style rack (Rack/Kayaks/Paddle boards Not Included) - 5 BFGoodrich 27" AT all terrain tires with tons of tread and an unused spare on the front. - KYB shocks. - Swivel passenger seat. - Retractable front seat belts. With the shocks and tire combination the bus drives down the highway better than any other bus I've ever driven. This is the perfect road trip vehicle, this summer we have taken it to Portland, Oregon, Spokane, Washington, The Dalles, Oregon for concerts, etc. It still has the factory fuel injection. It starts and idles great year round, once it gets up to highway speeds it just purrs along( it likes 60-67mph with the 27" tires but can go 70 on flat no problem.) The only noticeable issue driving it daily is when your cruising along at city speeds it kinda surges occasionally as if it's searching for the correct speed. I've been told it's probably a small vacuum leak but it's never bothered me enough to find it. I always use synthetic oil and 92 octane gas. Please call (509) 420-3681 or email with questions or request for further pictures. THE FINE PRINT: SORRY, BUT IT HAS TO BE SAID........... THERE ARE NO WARRANTIES. THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS IS.
