1989 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE 5.0 SALEEN PKG UP FOR SALE IS MY 1998 FORD MUSTANGNICE CAR WITH A STRANGE HISTORY I PURCHASED THIS CAR ALMOST 7 YEARS AGO IN SARASOTA FL AT THE SERENOA GOLF COMMUNITY FROM A OLDER COUPLE. THE WIFE SOLD THE CAR BECAUSE HER HUSBAND DEVELOPED ALTZIMERS AND KEPT ON TRYING TO DRIVE THE CAR. I PUT THE CAR ON THE ROAD ON 9/28/06 IN ENGLEWOOD FLORIDA. (I WAS THE SECOND OWNER) THE CARFAX STATES THAT IN 01/24/1992 THE CAR HAD 25,575 MILES ON IT. I BELEIVE THIS TO BE A CLARICAL ERROR DO TO THE FACT THAT THE CAR WAS REGISTERED FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THIS DATE. THE ORIGINAL OWNERS HAD ONLY USED THE CAR LOCALLY AND MOSTLY IN THERE GOLF COMMUNITY. THEY ASSURED ME THAT THE MILEAGE WAS TRUE AND CORRECT. AT 11K... I CANT SEE A 70 YEAROLD COUPLE ROLLING BACK THE SPEEDO. SHORTLY AFTER I SOLD THE CAR TO MY BEST FRIENDS MOTHER IN NY.WHEN I DROVE THE CAR TO HER IT HAD LESS THAN 12K ON THE ODOMETER.NY STATE INSPECTED THE CAR AT 13079 MILES ON 9/4/08, IT WAS INSPECTED AGAIN ON 6/15/10 UNDER HER NAME WITH 14560 MILES ( I have nys INSPECTION papers to show this).I am the second and fourth owner of this car. SHE HARDLY DROVE THE CAR AND LET IT SIT MOST OF THE TIME IN HER DRIVEWAY. I OBTAINED THE CAR AGAIN RECENTLY WITH 16888 MILES ON THE CLOCK. (Also has ny state inspection papers for this)DUE TO THE CAR SITTING I HAD TO REPLACE SOME ITEMS THAT HAD FADED OR GOTTEN SUN DAMAGED. ( HEAD LAMPS, TAIL LAMPS, TIRES ETC...)THIS CAR LOOKS VERY GOOD AND SHOWS WELL BUT IT IS A DRIVER AND NOT A GARAGE QUEEN. NEW LIGHT FRONT AND REARNEW SCCA APPROVED SALEEN WHEELS WITH NEW NITTO 555ZR TIRES N2o FilledNEW LEATHER INTERIOR (sun cracked old leather)NEW TOP WITH GLASS BACK WINDOW.NEW REAR WING BY SALEEN.AND A STYLE BAR.I did add the back black out on the trunk also. I have replaced most worn items on the car with factory originals including saleen parts.Only royal purple synthetics used. This car has what appears to be a saleen pkg.NOT VARIFYED I have emailed Saleen and am waiting for a responseI DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER.IT STATES THE CAR WAS SOLD TO RICE & HOLMAN FORD 1301 RT 73 MT LAUREL NJ FROM FORD. THEN SHIPPED TO CARS AND CONCEPTS ACCORDING TO SALEEN, THEY CONTRACTED WITH CARS AND CONCEPTS TO PRODUCE SOME OF THERE SALEEN PKGS. BUT ALL INFO I COULD FIND STATES IT WAS IN LATE 1990. ( This car is a 1989 but wasent registered or sold until 1/24/92) This car sold for $20k in 1989 before whatever Cars & Concepts did to it to mark up the price.I have tried to varify this car but cant . Seems some Saleens fell thru the cracks. I tried the registry but had no response as of yet. Cars and concepts said some that they did some special orders with wing delete and no ground effects. But the chrome on the car was probably from them. They even said it could have been a car that was started and not finished for some reason. Thats as far as I could get. So Im just assuming that it is not a Saleen for legal purposes and have set the reserve accordingly. Although it very well may be. They did build some California Editions According to there web site, and also some rare prototypes as well. but no numbers are listed. This is a very nice mustang that drives very well dosent burn oil or leak anythingEvery engine part is original as far as I can tell except for the tune up which I have just done.(MSD wires cap and rotor + plugs) Shifts flawlesslots of poweram/fm cass with disc changerlooks very nice and gets looks from everyone.a very nice driver...
