Okay, here goes. 1971 Karmann Ghia. 4 year old body off restoration. 13k since restoration. Multiple trophy winner. Almost everything Has been replaced with new. New floor pans, paint, all new rubber, ball joints, cv joints, shocks, brakes, shocks, Goodyear tires. New, not rebuilt, 1600 motor from Brazil, one of the last batch of original factory engines from the VW factory there, with 12,000 miles, new IDF 40 Weber, new electric fuel pump and line, $1,000 spent on new Electromotive crank trigger ignition, CB engineering pulleys. Tach, Oil pressure and Volt meter added. Has locking transmission, to keep the car from being stolen. Blaupunkt AM/FM/SW radio from a 1986 Porsche, 6 disc CD player with remote controller, 400 watt amp. 4 speakers plus 10 in. woofer. The 400 watt amp was installed where the back seat would have gone, where it would stay cool. Motor compartment was dismal, so the 5-peice aluminum surround was put in. The two side panels are removable with a couple sheet metal screws into brackets. The underside of the fenders was epoxied. POR-15 was used surrounding the engine before the aluminum was installed. All new interior. New padding went down, with foil sound deadener across the back of the car: in the luggage area, rear wheel well, roof (two layers), quarter panel areas, doors . New oatmeal loop carpeting from TMI went over the padding. The seats are real leather from a Chev Malibu, drivers side is electric adjust. Seat belts are new 3-point retractable.The subwoofer amp is on the driver's side under the plywood cover that was built to replace the rear seat. It is strong enough for someone to ride there, if necessary. The window cranks are vintage Empi with Empi door pulls.New battery is behind the passenger seat, anchored down with an acid-neutralizing mat underneath. The paint is two-part urethane enamel, a color called pond green, looks like key-lime pie. Awesome color for this car and everyone comments on it! Comes with touch up paint. Rims have been restored (5" on rear, 4" on the front),The wider rims on the rear lowered it 3-4 inches without having to pull the rear torsion housing and move it one spline. The luggage area was etched, primed and with silver POR-15. Basically everything was sanded, etched with phosphoric acid, primered with etching primer, and painted with rustoleum black or POR-15 black. Up front a adjustable beam was added along with a new 3/4 inch sway bar. The beam was rebuilt with new seals, bearings, ball joints, tie rods, and steering dampener. The calipers were sanded, etched, etc, as were the backing plates, steering box, and swing arm. The body was taken down to bare metal. Then the new pans and backbone were primered and painted 3 coats of POR-15. The trans was drained and refilled with synthetic 80-90 wt. Also replaced the throwout bearing and seal on the engine end of the trans, and installed an Empi heavy-duty throwout shaft. New wiring harness also installed. Has electronic wiper fluid, not the old kind that ran off the spare. Spare is new too. Also has a RPM rev limiter, which is currently set at 4500 rpms. Map sensor module. There was a lot done to this beautiful car and a lot of details are being left, but if you have any questions just hollar. Recently took the car on a road trip, 700 miles, doing between 70 and 75, and it drove like a dream! Stays cool, didn't use any oil, no oil drips, drives straight at 90 plus, no wobbles, really like new. I truly can't say enough about this car, except I wish I didn't need to sell it. All the trophies go with the vehicle, along with a nice bra, car cover, and bunch of misc. parts, including extra carpet, the touch up paint etc. You'll receive all the documents and receipts I have for this car, along with manual etc for the stereo/ cd changer, the electromotive crank trigger ignition, the CB serpentine belt system, carb etc. Almost forgot to mention the rear windows are pop outs, very nice touch.
