Up for sale is a rarely seen example of German engineering! The 380 SLC was a US model produced only one year, 1981, which was the final year of Mercedes SLC production. Only about 1500 380 SLCs were built. According to published Mercedes Benz specifications, this model was lighter than it's 450 SLC sister, and over 200 pounds lighter than the SL Roadster produced the same year. Both bore and stroke dimensions of the engine were smaller than the 450 motor, giving it improved fuel economy, it was quicker revving, and the car performed about the same as the slightly more powerful 450 SLC, probably due to the 380's lower weight. This SLC has 142K original miles, which for a Mercedes is just broken in. The car has a working radio/cassette player, sunroof, heated leather seats, power windows, and plenty of room for 4 adults. The car runs great with a strong engine - I drove it on a three-hour trip just last week. The interior is in great shape with only minor cracks in the dash and a small tear in the side of the driver's seat which is visible in the pictures. This car has just gone through extensive restoration which included; rust repair, minor dent repair, rocker panel repair and a complete paint job! It looks like it just left the showroom! The only problem is that the blower is not working, but it is a new motor, so its probably just a fuse or wiring problem. I have the title, tons of receipts and service records and a full vehicle report! NADA lists this model at $11,300 in low average condition, $15,300 in average, and $20,000 in excellent. I would easily consider this an above average vehicle, and an absolute steal at $5000!
