Vehicle Detail
My Smart car turns heads and is really fun to drive! We flew to Florida and bought it from Foreign Affairs in Palm Beach in the fall of 2006 and drove it home to Iowa. There were no problems with it keeping up on the interstate. Everything works like new and it's in great shape - no dents, dings or scrapes. There are a few things that make it unique. It was made by Mercedes in Germany and imported to Florida (along with approx. 49 others). The transmission is a select switch for either Automatic or Tiptronic (no clutch manual). Unlike the ones being manufactured in the U.S., it has 6 speeds instead of the standard 5. It is keyless entry with 2 keys. It is a two-step convertible - you can put the roof partially down going 70 mph down the interstate or stop and put it completely down and lock it down. My husband designed and built the spare tire carrier on the rear. You simply flip it down and then flip down the trunk. A little reassurance when taking a trip. Note: If you're financing to purchase the car, ensure your lender will finance it without a Blue Book or NADA value as Smart cars aren't listed in either. $2,500.00 deposit must be paid in within 48 hours via Paypal. Accepted forms of payment are cash or cashier check. The European VIN is: WME4504321J223199.Buyer is responsible for vehicle transportation and expense. Thanks for looking. On Sep-18-12 at 13:52:44 PDT, seller added the following information: This is a message I received today (9-18-12) that I thought might be helpful: We were the midwest distributor when you bought yours from Foreign Affairs, so we have info on most all these smarts. Yours is actually the 21st 2005 to come into the US. Altogether, there were 1026 converted from the Euro design to meet US standards. Biggest single conversion to US standards in US auto history as far as I can tell. Nobody has disputed that yet. If someone is fearful of buying an exotic car like this, you might put them in touch with me and I might be able to settle their fears through our sources that specialize in this vehicle. Good luck. They are neat little guys. -Ron Gaus, asmartcar, St. Louis.
