Update: I have now lowered my "out the door"/reserve price by about $4,000 since first running the auction! It isn't going to get any lower and if it doesn't sell this time I am going to raise back up the price and list it for sale locally at a consignment lot and if that doesn't work, I am going to buy a trailer and use this thing this Fall and Winter. If you're one of the been watching and waiting to make a SERIOUS run at this Excursion after I reduced it a bit... NOW is the time! 2000 Ford Excursion Limited 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel, *30,402 MILES (NOT a typo!), orig. owner, 90 DAY WARRANTY (from install date of 7-24-2012)! I am the original owner, non-smoker and I love this truck and know the vehicle history well! The original sticker price when I bought it was $46,640 (picture of it is attached here). Basically it has ALL of the features of any loaded Limited made for the year 2000! At the end of this history and description the AUTOCHECK report has been added! *I had a new/used Engine (including the turbo) put in with only 29,941 miles at installation (completion date July 24, 2012!) The engine will has in the 30,XXX mile range by the time you read this of course because I am driving it a little here and there. Perhaps most importantly it comes with a FULL 90 DAY WARRANTY on the engine and the labor from July 24, 2012 (covered until October 23, 2012!) There are probably only a few hundred 7.3L Powerstrokes that fit this vehicle with less than 35,000 miles on them in the world. Since the 7.3L Powerstrokes were discontinued after 2003 in favor of the 6.0L diesel (which if you’re reading this you probably know is an INFERIOR engine and hugely unpopular with those who know Diesels), the 2000-2003 Excursions are the ones people want. If you can even find an engine like my 29K gem, buying it and getting it shipped and installed correctly is around an $8,000 to $10,000 proposition (trust me I just went through it and I DID my homework). Anyway: *Turbo on engine also was installed with the same 29,941 miles. *Truck Body has 206,xxx miles but read on for all the new parts installed in just the last 3 weeks! *The engine came from a 2002 model year F-250 in Texas. Besides the most important part (being the engine of course), I didn’t stop there! The list of NEW parts and maintenance that was completed between July 24, 2012 and now starts here and I have ALL receipts to prove it: *New front and rear brakes. Brake job included (removing & resurfacing ALL rotors and drums and replacing all brake pads). *New glow plugs *2 new batteries *New water pump and gaskets *New front end (replaced all lower and upper ball joints) *New air filter *New windshield *New Oil (heavy duty Rotella). *New Coolant (and all other engine fluids for that matter) *New oil filter (includes 15 quarts of Rotella diesel with new oil in engine at install) *New Door Lock actuators (common door lock system repair after time on Excursions, F150’s, 250s, 350s etc.). This is an expensive surprise you don’t want to deal with so I dealt with it for you! I just spent about $800 on replacing these things alone. I replaced all 5 doors with brand new parts! *New Power Steering system flush and fluid. *New alignment (including repair of a critical part) *Ultimate Detail job (I didn’t know they could be so expensive to make it like new inside and out like this but it seriously looks and feels super clean and like new) A lot of people mention their investment and new maintenance, repair and parts over the life of the vehicle and that’s cool. But I have spent almost $10,000 making all of the above upgrades, improvements, replacements and repairs in just the last 3 weeks with all the receipts so you KNOW this truck is ready to go! So what’s the story with this awesome BEAST I am sure you’re asking!?: Where to start! Well the obvious place is to mention that I just paid HUGE money to have an engine and turbo with only 29,941 miles on it professionally installed and paid an additional fortune to have a huge list of new parts, add ons, repairs and maintenance all done at once so this truck is as perfect as it can be with only a few very minor exceptions (which I’ll mention in a bit)! This engine and the labor on it is warrantied for 90 days from July 24, 2012 but I have no doubts about either as I have been driving it now for a couple weeks and the shop that did the install put on 200 miles driving it themselves. The story is that I am the one and only original owner (bought it in May 2000) and drove and babied it! I love this truck! Well a fairly rare thing happened at around 205,000 miles. The engine started knocking. If you are familiar with these 7.3L Powerstroke diesel engines… this was a bad break because they usually last well into the mid/high 200K or even 300K range or beyond before needing this type of repair. I took the Excursion to the dealer and they analyzed it as a bad cylinder and quoted me prices for replacing/repairing the one cylinder and prices for replacing ALL of the cylinders (only about double the cost to do the other 7 since the labor of getting there was half the battle). I also needed to do a lot of other things to it and after I looked at the Blue Book/NADA values and did some research, I decided that rather than repair an engine with 205,000 miles on it I could look around and find a used engine with less miles on it and install it for only a few thousand more dollars. I just had to find the RIGHT engine to make it worth the investment. So I searched and waited! I waited some more I found a few low milage engines along the way that I tried to but they sold the first day I called. Low milage 7.3L Diesel engines for these trucks are in very high demand I quickly learned. In my case I got EXTREMELY lucky after searching for awhile to find one that had only a little more than 10% of the miles on it than mine currently did and I put the deposit down and bought it 10 seconds after I confirmed it was still available! Again, I love the truck but with a divorce, no kids and a business that we closed recently it is an expensive daily driver for one guy since I have no kids or pets and no toys to haul anymore. I figured I’d fix it up and try to sell it to pay some bills but in a worst case scenario I’d just keep it and remember the good ol days and drive it when family and friends come to visit! Once I started fixing it up right I just couldn’t stop… Now it’s mechanically perfect and cosmetically VERY Good for a 2000 model year! Well that’s the story. If you find another, better looking Excursion with lower miles on the engine for sale here with a 90 day warranty (from July 24, 2012) and basically all of the maintenance and wear and tear parts replaced within the next three months, I’ll give you a thumbs up and a … but you WON”T! Other stuff it has: *Heavy Tow package (I’ll include the Hitch, Ball, Light adapter kit, etc. of course) *6 disc CD and single disc front loader *Tan leather with dual seat warmers *Rear AC and Radio Controls *3rd row removable seat *I have both original keys and two alarm/unlock remote/clickers programmed. Pretty much just look up 2000 Ford Excursion 7.3L Diesel Limited and you’ll have this truck. What it Needs: Tires. I almost decided to replace them and even add new rims but tires are such a personal taste and need type of decisions I decided to let the new owner choose what they want rather than invest and have to pass on the cost. I fixed and maintained everything else but decided you can choose your rims and tires! A little exterior TLC from small dents, dings and rock chips (NOTHING MAJOR mind you) but it has been on the road since 2000! Small front bumper fix. You have to be looking to tell and the bumper cover is still a 8.5 out of 10 in my opinion but I tapped (literally bumped them at a stop light at like 2 MPH because they started driving and stopped for no reason and I bumped them. No damage to them because their tow hitch pressed my bumper.) someone elses tow hitch and it pushed it in just a little. I might have this repaired before you bid or buy but I if I don’t I’ll get it done for you. Just wanted to give full disclosure again. That’s pretty much it! ***Note … many of these little things may be fixed by the time the vehicle sells but I didn’t want to wait weeks until it was completely perfect before selling is since I had fixed 95% of what was most important already. I figured I would just list it now with disclosures and update any serious potential buyers with improvements as we went along. The bottom line: Under the hood and with all of the maintenance I have just done in the last two weeks alone I have spent almost $10,000 making this thing as close to operationally new and worry free for the next owner as possible. New/used engine and turbo with 29,000 miles on it, brakes, oil (diesel oil changes are over $100 a piece because its heavy oil and 15 quarts of it!), fluids, filters, pumps, front end and ball joints, 2 new batteries, alignment, ultimate detail, etc. all within the last 3 weeks!!!??? Can’t beat it! The exterior and interior have light scratches, nicks, super small dents and dings that you come to expect from a vehicle that hit the road only a few months after Clinton left office but if I were you I would bid often on this one because unlike most cars of this age, the guesswork has been eliminated and clearly paid for by someone else (ME… thank you very much!) The vehicle is black in color and huge though so it hides it’s minor imperfections really well because it is just so massive and cool looking. Relative to the age of the vehicle, I would rate: The mechanical condition is a 9.75 on a 10 point scale. The Interior appearance is an 8.5 on a 10 point scale. The Exterior appearance is an 8 on a 10 point scale. Bid early and often because I just turned this average Excursion into a GEM that should last the next owner a decade before any major fixes are needed! Note to low ballers: I am NOT desperate by any means and could wait years before selling this thing if I had to so please don’t bother trying to use traditional or low end book values to talk me down. I am having a hard time wanting to sell it now as it is and certainly will be happy to keep it until the price is right (ESPECIALLY after making it almost new again). I know the truck as the only owner and have taken great care of it over the years and just went OVERBOARD making it like new because I love it so much. I know what I have and it’s NOT the run of the mill Excursion. The low miles on the engine and turbo alone technically boosts it’s value over $6,000 in either NADA or Blue Book and an Excursion like this one with this low milage on this type of engine only shows up a few times a year nationwide. By the way, the transmission is AWESOME and I never used it to tow anything but a couple of small trailers a couple of times locally over the years! Happy Bidding! If I were you and I wanted an Excursion I could drive virtually maintenance free for the next 10 years I would BUY IT NOW because the final price might just exceed it! An Excursion like mine with 87,000 miles on it (same year but almost 50K MORE miles on the engine than mine) just went in a bidding war here for almost $21,000! If I was a serious buyer I wouldn’t wait to see how much one with less than half the miles on the engine went for because you won’t find another one! Thanks for looking and good luck! In addition below is the Auto Check report which shows no accidents, incidents or other warnings to worry about. The only two things that might seem "irregular" that I noticed were that it said that the truck might have been a "fleet vehicle". It was my truck and I and my wife were the only regular drivers but I did originally lease and then later buy the truck in my company name but it was not a fleet vehicle in the sense that anyone but my wife and I drove it with any frequency. The second thing was the "duplicate title" notice. That part is correct because for some reason the bank (originally Bank One now Chase) never issued a title and when I paid off the truck last month they sent the loan payoff paperwork and DMV had to give me a duplicate. There is only one title out there I assure you of that (I never lost one... in fact all my car titles always stayed in a safe deposit box.) You can tell by the "one owner" part on the Auto Check that I am the original and only guy. My vehicle score is "off the charts" with a score of an 85 on a chart that usually scores between 45-67!
