Vehicle Detail
This is a 1967 Volvo 210 wagon which was restored to show condition 12 years ago. It was always kept in a warehouse since restored and was rarely driven. It was trailed in a enclosed trailer when brought to shows and used by Volvo for promotional tours. It has only logged about 300 miles since being restored. It is currently running, licensed and on the road and kept in a garage. It won Best interior for a Maryland show in June of this year. It is considered by many to be one of the best condition examples of the 210 in the US. The wood was done by a Jersey Skiff wood boat racer named Auerbach. All new upholstery, rubbers, floor mats, restored speedometer, Volvo - Bendix AM radio, Chromed roof rack with new wood, rebuilt B20 with E head, Rebuild M40 4 speed transmission, rebuilt SU carbs, No rust anywhere. Paint very good with id1" x 1/4" gouge on right rear door and one Quarter size bubble on top of nose on the left (pics included of both) Chrome- very good.. Original wheels widened. good 185 tires. The left wing window retainer needs to be rewelded and the door locks have weak springs. The brakes have all new wheels cylinders in the front with new hoses, However, upon braking hard the car pulls to the right. I have not figured out why. No problem with shoes, hoses or wheel cylinders. Everything works on the car. I have a Vermont registration in my name. (non title state) The registration transfers to title states. Sold as is. All sales final. $1000.00 down payment due within 24 hours. Payment due within 9 days of close of auction by cashier's check. Car to be picked up within 3 weeks of close of auction. The car is currently stored 10 miles south of my house in West River, Md and can be picked up there in it's garage. Thanks! On Aug-24-12 at 05:44:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Many thanks to Jerry for contacting me and giving me some of the details on the restoration. No expense spared on the restoration. This car was completely stripped to a bare shell with no major body work required. The paint alone was over $8k. I picked up the chrome work from Royal Silver in Norfolk, Va. and the bill was close to $6,500. The interior is Mercedes leather. The engine was completely rebuilt as was the transmission and rear end. I think the total tab to complete this car was around $25,000 in 1990 money. IT IS THE BEST YOU’LL EVER FIND! I always wondered about what the seats were done in as the car still smells like a new car, and come to think of it, a Mercedes. makes sense now. Drving the car... I do drive the car, have, ever since I bought it and got it back on the road! I drive it to car shows, take my family in it, etc, I just have NOT put anything in the back of it, except when some of my dinghy sailing friends decided to climb in the back after a show when I took it down to my sailing club that was having a regatta after the show... Don't worry, they did not scratch the paint or the wood. I have brought the car to two local shows, and the plaques and trophy convey with the car. I will furthermore add that Mr Leno tried to buy this car and the car was offered to Volvo in Sweden and they turned it down because it was better than the factory could produce. On Aug-25-12 at 17:59:43 PDT, seller added the following information: The "Mercedes Leather" is actually (I think) what is called "MB Tex" which is actually a thick vinyl. But very durable and used for many years on Mercedes. I also encourage inspections if you wish or you can send a mechanic or appriaser to assess the car. Thanks for all the positive comments and emails! On Aug-26-12 at 17:06:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a site that goes into some detail on the 210 - Duett- And, a promotional piece in Swedish- I also have some New Old Stock cardboard kick panels for the front interior sides if you do not want the wood for the kick panels, and I have a bottle jack that was bought new for the car in the 90's. sold as a replacement along with the toolkit by Swedish Classics.
