Today I am selling a 1973 Mercedes Benz 280 SEL with a 4.5 V8 engine. The car comes with a clear California title and is in overall good condition for its age. I am going to try and describe the car the best way I can but I always strongly suggest that a buyer come view it in person and formulate their own opinion. I purchased the car in 2005 from a gentlemen in California via Ebay. I had planned on doing some restoration and customizing the car but have developed other interests and the car deserves to go to someone who can show it the attention I no longer have time for. The car has a some larger rust spots but it appears to all be because of a cheap re-paint job. The overall frame and body are solid and in good shape. The floor boards are solid and show no signs of rust at all. The rear drivers side door does not stay shut. Chances are the lock needs to be lubricated but I am not 100% sure. The paint shows some fading but the interior is still in VERY good shape. I can not find the key at this very moment (because I am moving and everything is in boxes) but I hope to find it before the car is picked up. I have the title in hand and it is ready to go. The car has all four of its hubcaps and four good tires. The wrenches, jack, etc. are all located in the trunk with a full size spare tire that does need to be replaced do to dry rot. The current title reflects an accurate odometer reading so I will represent the same to the best of my knowledge. The car needs a new battery and a tune up. It did run as late as April but as previously stated, I can not find the keys at this moment. I am not a mechanic or a dealer, so please keep that in mind. Within 24 hours of the auction ending, a non-refundable $250.00 deposit must be paid via Paypal. The balance must be paid in either postal money orders, cash or bank check. I will accept personal checks from the following banks only...Bank of America, Wells Fargo, TD Bank and PNC. ALL other personal checks will be returned as I do not have the ability to verify funds. I am moving out of state within the next few weeks so the car MUST be picked up within 10 days after the end of the auction. If the successful bidder does not pick the car up within the timeframe or make arrangements, I reserve the right to either re-sell it, donate it, or dispose of it however I choose as I do not have the storage nor the time to wait. The car is located in Lincoln Park, NJ (Morris County) and can be viewed at any time. I have the car for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time.
