Vehicle Detail
Ford 1964 galaxie XL 2 door hardtop 390 v8 4 speed General stats: 390 cu in - top loader 4 speed - 9 inch posi differential w/355 gears 18 inch Boss wheels - new dual exhaust w/glasspacks - new carpeting – new headliner (not installed) - new electric fuel pump - new fuel lines and refreshed fuel tank - lowered Suspension - comes with original accessory under dash air conditioning system, (not Installed) - needs paint and upholstery work - driveable/useable as is. We bought this car to make a nice cruiser for the family and although it would be great for this purpose, we’ve decided that we like the 40s and 50s cars better. Therefore, we’ve decided to let this one go. This car, originally from Texas, has great potential for someone who enjoys the big mid-sixties muscle/cruisers. It has a powerful 390 cubic inch v8 with under 5000 miles on. It also has a top loader 4 speed and a 9 inch differential with 355 gears and positraction. Just to be clear, this is NOT a numbers matching car. I believe it was originally a 352 with an automatic and air conditioning. The original AC system comes with it. Being from Texas it has very few rust issues. The floors are perfect. The trunk had a few small holes apparently caused by water leaking into the trunk. These have been properly repaired with metal welded in. The outside has a couple of small holes on each side above the rear wheel wells, (see photos). Other than that the body is in very good condition, although it does need a paint job. The left front fender has been replaced with a rust free fender due to a dent, The previous owner decided it was easier to replace than fix. The chrome and moldings are in good shape, with the exception of the rear bumper which needs rechroming. The car has been lowered, (cut front coils and lowering blocks in rear), It has almost new 18 inch Boss wheels and low profile tires. These go for over $1,400 alone. It sits nice and low yet rides very well on the highway. The original wheels, tires, and hubcaps also go with the car, however, if someone wants to go for the original look. As for the interior, the seats and door panels need to be reupholstered. The car has new black carpeting installed and comes with a new black headliner, not installed. Mechanically the car is very driveable. I’ve just put about 75 miles on it. As stated before, the engine has about 5000 miles on it. This is according to the previous owner. It shifts very smoothly and is pretty peppy for a fairly large vehicle. The car has a new duel exhaust system with glasspacks and it sounds really good. Since I’ve had it, I installed an electric fuel pump and had the gas tank cleaned and sealed. The only issue it has is that the low speed circuit in the Holley carburetor may have some dirt because the idle is a little rough. If I was keeping it I would either replace the carb or have this one rebuilt. So, in summary, this is a nice running, nice driving car that needs paint and interior work, and perhaps a little more work on the carb. I’ve tried to cover all the high and low points of the car. Feel free to call or email with questions or to arrange a viewing of the car before you bid. My number is 262-691-8979. Thanks and good luck bidding.
