Vehicle Detail
Frame off, bare metal, nuts and bolts, restoration several years ago. Many of the bolts have been replaced with galvanized or stainless parts where possible. The 48k odometer reading can't be certified but the wear on the engine internals corroborates the low millage. The cylinder walls still clearly have the original factory cross scorings for oil lubrication and little to no wear from piston gaskets. Last inspected when roller rocker valves were installed less than 500 miles ago. Compression is as factory specified. There is no smoke either blue or white. As with all triumphs there is an oil drip beneath the car. Not sure where it is coming from. There is no rust - the car has had the under side coated with chip proof paint to match the car color and interior of panels and parts sprayed with Boeshiled T-9. I have l ways used Lead substitute to premium fuel and ZDDP to all oil changes to protect the engine. The speedometer reads fast by about 10 mph at true 40 mph (so it reads 50 mph approximately). The window washer pump doesn't work and the horn works most of the time! I've had a few of these cars and same problem with all. It has a near new vinyl convertible top. Paint is good. Since the restoration tasteful upgrades have been made to make it a safe daily driver in the city or in the hills. All can be reversed and I have the original parts that will come with the car in most cases (not the original radio or rockers). I have added the following: -Lucas driving lights. One flood and one spot. -Front wheels stabilizer bar (this made a big difference to handling). -Upgraded much brighter headlights. -Top end of motor rebuilt with new seals and roller rockers (these made a noticeable difference in horsepower, smoothness and reduced engine noise). There is an oil feed added to the rockers to keep them amply lubricated. -Pertronix electronic distributer and coil. -Heat shield between engine and carbs. -electric radiator fan with automatic switch. This has never activated even in the California heat. The engine maintains a healthy temperature even under heat duress. -Green stuff Break pads. These make a big difference in breaking power over stock break pads. -Classic styling modern radio with ipod plugin (Radio is easily removable if one wants an original radio installed). -Easy plug in Battery tender. This is a beautiful matching numbers restored car using most of the original parts. It runs smoothly and gear changes are crisp. It does about 25 mpg town driving and cruises on the freeway at 75 mph happily (I've cruised for several hours at this speed with room to spare). Compression is as specified in the manual with no fluctuation. Starts immediately even if sitting for a weeks with the use of the choke. I think it's a stromberg carb nuance, but stutters a little starting when hot. Resolved with one pump of the gas to prime the carbs. The winning buyer is welcome to have the car inspected within the week from close of auction, after deposit is received and prior to shipping. If there is any significant fault discovered during this inspection, beyond what is listed above or beyond usual wear and tear, I will either have it fixed or refund the deposit less any ebay fees. Be reasonable and judicious with this option (This isn't a way out for buyer's remorse, to get the car repainted, or to nickle and dime the agreement - this is for you to feel comfortable with the car you are buying is every bit as good as it is being represented). Or even better, feel free to have it inspected prior to close. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Thank you for looking.
