Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 I am relisting my Porsche, since two illegitimate bidders drove the price up so that actual interested parties would be discouraged from bidding. Right before the auction was to close, I received a message from the top illegitimate bidder that he did not mean to bid on the car (I later checked out the story and found out it was false). I called eBay and the bid was removed, however only minutes remained before the auction closed. The high bidder ended up being the other illegitimate bidders. I reported them to eBay and both have been removed from bidding. Many people contacted me after the auction ended and were upset that they did not have a chance to bid on the car, consequently I am relisting it. I purchased this beautiful Porsche back in the early 1980’s. I haven’t driven it very much over the past 10 years. The car was red when I bought it. It was painted shortly after I purchased it. Body work (mostly the right front fender) was done with lead and very little bondo. The interior is the same as when I bought the car. You may want to upgrade the interior and carpet, as it is not original, although it is in good condition. The hood is straight with no kinks. Rubbers all around are in good condition. Headliner is in fair condition and could use a good cleaning. Doors, hood and deck lid open and close well. All gaps seem to be quite good. Tires are 175 x 15 steel radials. They are the same tires that were on the car when I bought it. They appear to still be in very good shape with no visible cracking. The car does have a spare tire. The underneath is in reasonably good shape. There was a patch job done before I got it. Battery box is solid. The car is fairly complete. It will need a good going over. Change all fluids, fuel pump, new battery, aerial, outside mirror and a radio. The electrical system has been converted over to 12 volts. Bumpers are metal, however I don’t have the bumperettes. This is a nice car to restore without getting buried. I am also including the ‘Porsche Type 356 A Driver’s Manual’. Engine, Transmission #: P*60045*; 102684600; Reutter: VIN #57414 KAROSSERIE KUNSTHARZLACK. This VIN #57474 is correct. The car was produced probably in late 1956 but is labeled as a 1957. The number which appears on the door (see pictures), also appears under the front hood, under carpeting near the gas tank. The pink slip is dated 00/00/57. I do have a clear title on the car. The car currently has a non-operator status. Unfortunately, the car has sat in the garage since 2006. It was running fine when I put it away. Engine ran well and transmission shifted ok. Body is in very good condition. The car did not come equipped with seat belts. Not long after I got it, after much nagging from my wife about how unsafe it was to drive like that, I finally relented and installed them. When I put the car in the garage, I put a cover over it and things began to get piled on top, underneath and inside the car. I have a 20 year old son off at college (private school, very expensive). He was a teenager when I put the car away. Somehow the car now has a broken antenna, the mirror was snapped off and there is a small dent on the left front fender along with several small nicks. Not really sure how this happened, but use your imagination. I finally got tired of looking at the car in this state for so many years. I decided I needed to get it out of the garage, clean it up and let someone else enjoy it. The money will also help fund my son’s education. Car was registered in California, and comes with a Bill of Sale. Will assist with shipping Arrangements. Terms: must have $1,000 non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of winning bid. Balance due prior to pickup or other arrangements must be made. PLEASE DO NOT BID UNLESS WILLING TO BUY. Located in Southern California, USA. Car is sold as is. Feel free to ask any question. I will try to respond as promptly as I can. Thanks Vic Here are additional photos of the car. The taillights have since been updated to the later T2 style 'teardrop'. The car was originally sold with beehive taillights.
