1975 Mini With everything from major rallying and saloon car racing success to being the outright star of films such as The Italian Job, the Mini is a true icon of the 20th Century, not just as a car, but as pop-art and design. It is no wonder then that such a fantastic little car would lend itself to all levels of customization and performance enhancements. And the car on offer is one such example of a ‘hot-rodded’ Mini. The basis for this remarkable and very special car is a 1975 Morris Mini. The completely rust-free body was repainted in Pumpkin Orange and shows exceptionally well. It is not a viscous and bright orange, but a little more subdued and subtle. Brightwork is excellent, as are the scuff-free Mamba wheels with good tires. The underside is clean and totally rust-free. Mechanically, the car has been completely gone through. The engine, a MiniMania 1380cc with alloy head is the basis of its mechanical restoration. This was mated to the overhauled transmission with a new clutch. Carburetion is from a Weber with a box through the bulkhead and nestled behind the dash. All ancillaries were replaced or restored as needed. Brakes, suspension and steering were also overhauled and all work perfectly. High performance parts were used throughout. The interior has been fully restored starting with a new Wood & Pickett dash with Smiths Classic gauges. Fresh carpet and a full interior panel kit was installed. The seats were recovered in leather and a new headliner installed. The car is an absolute blast to drive. It is about the fastest thing off the line and draws a substantial crowd wherever it goes. With very few miles since the full build, it is very taut on the road, quick and with fantastic handling. It’s on rails! Fresh from a full service of all systems, the car is ready to be enjoyed.
