Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE!!! Fresh out of a private collection of classic and muscle cars and now up for auction is a 1976 FORD Starsky & Hutch model GRAN TORINO. NOT sure if its an original S&H car but is sure looks and plays the part very well. So it could be. This car is sporting a 351 cubic inch Cleveland engine which has a 2 barrell carb and is backed by a Column shifted Automatic transmission. The speedometer on the car is currently showing 44,957 miles and the title shows 37,151. Dont know much history on the car other than it sat for a very long time in an older gentlemans paved driveway in northern Virginia before being found in 2009. Mechanically it currently is in need of a carburetor rebuild,( floods at idle sometimes) the mufflers are showing their age and the right front front caliper was sticking some. The picture of the 3 gauges together is of an external oil pressure gauge that i hooked up just to show how awesome the oil pressure is and the 60 psi that it holds. The car does have a very tough muscle sounding dual exhaust and the transmission is very tight and shifts awesome. The body of the car is pretty darn solid, especially underneath. The rear quarter panels, and wheel lips are the only major rust in the car. All glass is in good shape. Two of the tailight plugs do need to be replaced due to being brittle. There is some slight rust on the trunk lip near the weatherstripping but not seen from outside. One great thing about this car is that it is a solid ORIGINAL and unmolested body. You are starting with a car that has NOT been body puttied or fillered at any time. What minor rust and dings you see are what you have to fix. NO hidden surprises. The interior is Black with a bench seat and column shift. At some point during the cars dormant period in the driveway, a can of white spray paint was inside on the front seat and exploded which covered the seat cover, (luckily it had a cover on it) door panel and dash. Not really hateful but noticeable. For anyone bidding, you are free to contact me and come see the car in person so you can get a full idea of how cool and desireable this car is. I am selling this in as is condition and with NO RESERVE!! High bidder gets it. AND to be fair, I am going to start the auction at a stupid low price of $500 bucks just to give everyone a fair chance at owning it. ALSO!!!! For those that were there last year for the Dukes of Hazzard DUKESFEST 2011 in Sperryville, Virginia. This was one of the only two starky & hutch cars there. Look at tha pictures i posted. I never got a chance for Cooter himself to sign the car but will defenitely get his signature this year unless the car is picked up by the new owner before the DUKESFEST 2012. I am only 20 minutes from the place where the event is held on Rte 522 in Rappahanock County. This car drew ALOT of attention and got many thumbs up. Hope to see you there. On Jul-23-12 at 06:42:43 PDT, seller added the following information: For all those that have emailed and contacted me so far just want to say thanks and i will answer some of the common questions. The body is super solid underneath as well as the floorpans. Hard to find a good Torino body here in VA for sure. All trim is there and in good shape. The Headliner is in decent shape and not sagging, The TITLE to the car is in my hands and it is a CLEAN AND CLEAR Virginia title. I do accept cash in person and can hold the car in storage for a few months if needed as long as it is paid for within a week or two after the auction ends. The interior lights and dash lights inside the car do work and so does the heater. I hope this helps in answering some of the questions. Thanks and good luck bidding. On Jul-23-12 at 15:25:08 PDT, seller added the following information: After doing some research and double checking, I found out that the engine in the car is a 351 M, NOT A CLEVELAND like i thought. Thanks to all who emailed to let me know to double check that. The cylinder heads have an M stamped on the end in the front by the intake. The 351 M in the car IS the Numbers matching engine to the car. It has not been replaced. I assumed that since the sticker on the left side valve cover said 351, i thought it was a cleveland. MY MISTAKE totally and i hope that this is cleared up now. And for those that have also asked, the car does have factory sway bars, the paint is faded some, and there is a CB Antennae on the rear decklid. Thanks again. On Jul-28-12 at 19:40:20 PDT, seller added the following information:I sure never expected so many emails on this 1976 Torino. I just need to clarify that in NO way shape or form am I claiming this car to be a true car that was used in any S+H movies or TV shows. It MAY have been but I wasnt around in the late 70's and i cannot confirm it. I CLEARLY posted a picture of the door tag and listed the VIN for all to see and go from that. If you are looking for a True ORIGINAL TV show car then you are going to have to cough up $30,000 for the other one for sale currently on tha bay. The one that i have listed for sale is a very nice and solid project with great potential and this car has turned alot of heads already and that is with faded paint and less than new looking chrome. I need all who are bidding to please understand that this is not a get in and drive home car. It runs and drives but needs to be checked over to be safe and reliable for daily useage. Thanks T
