Only 38,900 miles from new 1982 Fiat 12 Spider First introduced in 1966 and based on shortened 124 saloon floorpan and running gear, the attractive Pininfarina-styled Spider would prove an outstanding success for FIAT. Presented in red with a tan interior, top and boot, the stunning time-capsule car shows a certifiable 39,000 miles from new. From the last year of manufacture, the car was purchased new in Connecticut, by a lady in the film industry, who had it almost immediately transported out to her second home in Southern California, where it remained. Then it was sold some years ago to the second owner, a SoCal resident and car enthusiast, where it held status as a Sunday driver. Fantastically maintained from new, and in recent years, by local Exotic Performance, specialists in Ferrari service, the car drives exceptionally well. Fresh from a service at another local Lamborghini and Ferrari specialist, Filippo Cusimano, having spent $1200 getting the car ready for sale, including alternator belt, front brake pads and rotors, rear pads, various seals and gaskets, and 4 new tires, the car is turn-key ready to go. The engine is really tight and responsive with good power. Transmission is very smooth, clutch is excellent. Brakes, steering and suspension all feel very taut on the road. This is honestly, one of the best driving 124 Spiders I’ve come across, and I have driven and owned many. This car really needs to be driven to truly appreciate it. Paint on the car is excellent. A couple of panels have been painted, apparently, scuffed and scratched only. There is no evidence of accident damage or body repair. All panels are original and the entire car is rust-free. The underside is clean with absolutely no rust. Brightwork on the car is excellent, wheels are scuff free. The car was just treated to a new top. The only non-original item is the Alfa Romeo branded stereo radio/cassette player. The interior of the car is all original. The dash on these cars cracked around the air vents so readily, I wonder if they came like that from the factory. This dash is crack free. The wood veneer is excellent throughout the car. Seat surfaces, center console, door panels and carpet are all original and show very little wear considering the car’s age. There is a minor crack in the center console, as can be seen in the photos. The original boot is in very good condition. Offered with a clean, clear title, the full set of original books and manuals in their original packaging, and a substantial file of maintenance and service records. And AMAZINGLY, THE 4 ORIGINAL KEYS!!!! Testament to the quality of car and ownership.
