Vehicle Detail

This is a very unusual Model T Ford. It is a Smith Form A Truck conversion. We believe the conversion was performed in 1915 because most of it is 1914 and 1915. It features: 1913 - 1914 12-rivet rear end, round felloe 30x3 front wheels with early short shoulder hubs, tapered front spring, 1915 aluminum transmission cover with ribbed pedals, 1914 - 1915 riveted brass case steering column, 1913-14 Jno Brown Model 110 sidelamps, 1913-14 acetylene headlights (1-Victor, 1 Corcoran), early muffler, cast-end brake rods, 1912 - 1914 hood former, 1915 - 1916 hood, etc. The engine block is a 1923. The brass radiator is an aftermarket, but it doesn't leak, and it seems to cool just fine. The Smith Form-A-Truck Company was a business in Chicago that sold conversion kits to change your standard Model T car to a truck. This one has a grain box bed on the back. The truck measures 16' 3" long total. It has a 125" wheelbase. The grain box is 9'x43". All Smith parts are present, original and functional. Both hubcaps are original and marked Smith. The Smith kit is very elaborate. It has all of the rear end parts, chain drive axle, solid tire rear wheels with brakes inside rear hubs, angle iron frare that extends from the back all the way to the front of the original frame under the radiator. The frame has running board brackets that support the original running boards. It is unusual to see an original Smith complete and functional like this. It runs and drives. I have driven it a few miles. I would recommend that it be completely gone through mechanically before any long distance driving or touring. It is Horseless Carriage Club eligible. It is a really neat chain-drive truck. Far more unusual than a Model TT Ford truck. There is no warranty expressed or implied on this vehicle. Buyer to arrange all shipping or pick up vehicle in central Kansas-zip code 67460. We will be happy to assist with loading of vehicle. Payment to be cleared before vehicle is released.
