It is classified as a "Theft Recovery" title. When a car is stolen, the insurance company will give the police a few weeks to find the car and return it to the owners. After that point, if it hasn't been recovered, the insurance company will pay out the full amount of the car to it's original owners. If after that few week period the car is recovered by the police, it is classified as a "Theft Recovery" vehicle and is sold to a dealer. My car was never in any accident, and I can show you the carfax to prove it. It specifically states that the car was stolen and returned without damage.
