Vehicle Detail

Fresh out of my restoration facility is this beautiful one owner, low mileage, convertible 1973 mustang. I acquired this one owner, one of one mustang from the original purchaser about two years ago. It was for sale locally just outside of Atlanta Georgia, and has always been a southern car. In the last 30 years I have owned, and restored over 30 classic cars most of which have been mustangs. I know the ins and outs of the restoration process and the good and the bad of what not to start off with. The original owner was a career ford employee and back in 1973 when ford announced the end of the convertible mustang, he promptly placed his order for this car. I have a hand written letter describing his order and a Marti report with the breakdown denoting this car as a one of one. She has just over 64k miles, which were mostly accumulated its first couple of years of use. The daughter of the owner would drive it from an Atlanta suburb up to the University of Georgia during the week, and then return home on weekends. Amazingly it never got painted red. After graduation, it basically sat in a garage or carport for the next 30 years other than the occasional parade or shriner event. I had seriously considered leaving it completely original as it was a mustang time capsule, but once I started addressing minor issues, I found myself doing a color change, and a cosmetic restoration to enhance the beauty of this classic. Anyone who has started a project like this knows you cant just paint a car and not replace just about everything. The body was completely rust and accident free, which after nearly 40 years is unheard of. Ford never made a convertible Mach 1, but if they did, it would look like this car. During the restoration I changed the color from light blue to grabber blue with argent mach 1 accent stripes, The hood (Mach 1style) and rear valence panel are the only non original body panels. I replaced the rear bumper, front grill (NOS), door handles, rear tail light bezels and lenses. The interior is completely new including : dash pad, door panels, carpet, and seat covers. Under the hood I replaced the radiator, water pump, belts, hoses, and of course the battery. The power brakes were freshened up with a new booster, master cylinder, rotors, calipers, pads, and lines. The competition suspension was upgraded with KYB gas shocks. The wheels and tires are upgraded to 15X8 magnums in the rear, and 15X7's up front, wrapped with BF Goodrich radial T/A's. The windshield was also replaced along with EVERY piece of rubber and weatherstripping. This car was undercoated when new and since I drive all of the cars I own, I did not see the need in stripping the undercoating and detailing the bottom. It is however completely rust free and still retains some of the factory markings from the assembly plant.. The original 9 inch rearend is still in place as is the rear sway-bar. The convertible top had been replaced just a few years ago and has no tears, and only shows minor discoloration from new. Of course the new owner will probably keep the top down as much as possible. The power top and windows function as they should, and the air conditioning also has proven to keep me cool even in our hot Georgia climate. If you are unsure why I listed Cobra Jet in my opening description, my best recommendation would be to google it. BUT in 1973 the Q code engine is the 4 bolt main block and is basically considered the cobra jet engine. Do the research. This was the most high performance mustang you could get in 1973. Only 968 mustangs had the Q-code engine in 1973. As for the competition suspension option, Only the Q code cars came with staggered shocks, when you added the competition suspension as an option. As for matching numbers of the drivetrain... its totally original. I did replace the water pump, and shocks, but saved the originals. And yes they go with the car. EVERY body panel except the hood and rear lower valence panel is original ford. (I do have the original rear valence, also included) Like I said, when found 18 months ago this car was a time capsule. With the options this car came with, and the rising prices of collector muscle cars, this is a great buy with invesment potential. (NADA shows this car to be worth well over 30K, and the Hagerty price guide puts it in the 40k range) Every time I drive this beauty I get dozens of thumbs up and compliments of the paint job and the overall condition. If you like to show your car for trophys at your local mustang events, this one will bring them home. The paint and interior are flawless, with no disappointments. Ive driven this car less than 500 miles since assembly this spring, You could not buy and build a classic mustang for my buy it now price. This is not your $10k mustang in need of a $30k restoration. This one is done and done right. I could continue to describe the car but will let the pictures tell the rest. I welcome phone calls from serious buyers and would recommend a pre-buy inspection on any classic vehicle. I can assist in shipping to both domestic and international buyers, and can recommend finance options and insurance companies. I also have this vehicle listed locally and reserve the right to end the auction at any time. The only reason I am selling is that I own 5 other mustangs and have 3 in line to be restored.
