Vehicle Detail

When you’re looking at a car like this, I think it’s important to establish the pedigree of the automobile. First, as you will notice, this car has had two owners – the original owner who ordered the car and me. Also, the car has never, ever been raced, chipped, had a system installed, or screwed around with in general. It has never been wrecked, it doesn’t have crazy rims, and it has definitely not been run hard at all. In the fall of 2009 I purchased this vehicle right here on eBay from the original owner, Jim S., a nearly 70 year old man from Missouri, close to the Kansas boarder. We spoke on the phone numerous times until he convinced me beyond a doubt that this car was as perfect as I was ever going to find (I am a typical Type A personality when it comes to detail). I left Pittsburgh after my teaching day was over on a Friday and flew into Kansas City that night. The next morning I arrived at Jim’s home. Sitting in Jim’s garage was my new Trans Am and the car which Jim declared was “the last car he was going to own,” a brand new black Corvette Z06 hardtop. Talk about taking a step heavenward. Upon doing the paperwork, I drove the car home from Western MO to Western PA. It was an awesome way to get acquainted with my new car. Jim made several promises to me that I haven’t found fault with in nearly three years, such as: (a) the car had only seen rain a half-dozen times or so – evidenced by inspecting the car while on the racks, (b) it never spent a night outside – I detailed for almost a decade in high school and college and the paint is awesome (my garage is also heated), (c) he never did burn-outs - original tires were on it when I drove it home (since replaced), and (d) it was driven for 8 months of the year – I have insurance records to prove it. These are all promises that I can maintain with complete fidelity also. There are only three additions that I made to the car: (1) A K&N filter was installed, (2) A professionally installed (via ultra heavy clamps) FlowMaster American Thunder CAT-back exhaust system, and (3) A matching set of Cooper Zeon 2XS tires (z-rated) with approximately 7,000 currently on them. These are classy additions. The exhaust sounds absolutely amazing and clearly distinguishes the deep tones of the Detroit inspired 5.7L V-8 from the raspy and annoying muttering of import vehicles. The vehicle is in perfect mechanical condition to my most complete knowledge. I would not sell it any other way. You will absolutely not find a better Trans Am with this mileage and at this price point. The only imperfections that I can point out is some minor scratching on the front fascia (probably from a curb). Also, there is a scratch on the bottom portion of the passenger’s door and a slight amount of wear around the passenger door; again, not glaring details to the passerby but something I want to point out. These were on the car when I purchased it (consult pictures). Finally, just like all F-bodies of this generation for some reason, the inside plastic on the driver’s door has a hairline vertical crack about 1.5” long…nothing comprising but its there (consult picture). In all, the exterior of the car is a solid 9.0/10.0 and I only rate it so because I am discerning about even the smallest stone chip. The t-tops don’t leak whatsoever. The leather seats are PERFECT. The ebony interior is immaculate – there is no fading on the dashboard, no wear marks on the audio controls, no stains on the upholstery, no nothing. Just like it was intended. Neat, clean, pristine! When it comes to this car, there just aren’t many hairs to split. Jim used Mobile 1 synthetic motor oil and I use Royal Purple. Despite the longevity of these oils, I have changed the fluids according to the manufacturer’s recommended intervals. Regardless of your preference (and biases), you can agree that this car has had a well-lubricated life. Finally, as I am sure you know, the 2002 is the last model year of the Trans Am. This is one of a very select group of vehicles that just doesn’t depreciate like a common automobile. The car stickered for $32,330. The WS6 model has an upgraded 5.7L LS1 V8 engine. The Ram Air package puts out 325hp in front of a 6 speed manual transmission with a Hurst Shifter. It also has a Monsoon 10 speaker premium sound package that functions perfectly. What you may not know (or believe) is that this Trans Am can be very fuel efficient. I have recorded on several trips to Harrisburg and State College at a rate of 27.5 – 28.2 mpg. The car cruises in 6th gear at about 1900 rpm going 70 mph. The car comes equipped with the factory t-top shades, floor mats, two sets of keys and remote entry fobs (fully operational), and a car cover. I am selling this car for the simple reason of a pending career change starting mid-summer which will leave me garage-less in the city of Pittsburgh. I am not entirely sure how I feel about this on a personal level, but that’s neither here nor there. The car deserves a garage and a better life than I will unfortunately be able to give it. If you have questions beyond what I have described, I encourage you to email me. If you would like, provide me with a phone number and I will be glad to give you a call. I understand that this is a substantial purchase and I want to do my best to present the car to you with the fullest detail I am capable of capturing. I would ask for the sake of time that inquiries are of serious intentions. Upon your successful bid or purchase, I am requiring a $1,000 deposit through PayPal. Concurrently, I would expect that you will email me (if you had not already) and we will discuss via phone the details of transaction and subsequent arrangements. I will expect a certified bank check in the full remaining balance upon arrival. I will also detail the car for pickup.
