Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a restorable 1968 Porsche Coupe, #1963 out of the 5598 Karmann built coupes that year and has a very exceptional interior, is complete, but has not been driven for about 5 years. I purchased the car then intending to restore it, but have too many Porsches at this time to get to it. I had the car professionally moved to a restoration shop where it was started and run using a portable gas tank so as not run the risk of contamination if the tank in the car had any rust or bad fuel. The Weber carbs need rebuilding and leak presently. The paint is cracked in most areas, and the rear licence panel below the deck lid was not with the car, but a replacement is about $100. The original color of the car was code 6804 Light Ivory, and it has had 1 repaint to Black many years ago. I was told by the previous owner that he was assured that the engine was the original and its # 1281866, appears to fit the range for 1968. The car has (non collision?) minor dents. There is rust in some lower areas, and in the shop's opinion, rocker panels (($150 a side) , a front suspension pan with tow hook ($125), and some other underside rusting I have pictured should be repaired before driving safely. Restoration Design is a reasonably priced metal replacement part source I have used several times for other Porsche restorations, and their parts are excellent. There are several other reliable sources of these common parts as well. Please review the many pictures carefully to see the condition of the car. This is a Rare short wheel based car, and definately a good one to restore as early 912 sort wheel based autos prices have soared recently. All parts, but the rear lower valance mentioned, are with the car sale. My car is located in North Central Florida @ resto shop about 100 miles South of Fl/Ga. border, in Micanopy, about 3 miles off Interstate 75 Exit. You can email me with questions, or call the restoration shop owner where work was performed @352-466-4478 Micanopy Motor Sports for details. My reason for selling: I have a 1970 911 targa ahead of restoration and am out of room, so something has to go. $500 Paypal deposit due 48 after auction close. Balance in US dollars or certified check from US bank due at pickup within 2 weeks of auction close; it is sold where is, as is. I welcome questions and inspections BEFORE bidding ends. I am a longtime PCA member, and have 100% positive EBAY feedback. Good luck with your bid. See my other auctions for interesting vintage Porsches for sale on Ebay.
