Vehicle Detail
1971 Ford Baja Bronco by Stroppe. One of less than 400 produced...2nd lowest VIN from the consignment pool of trucks allocated to Stroppe's by Ford, leaving Ford in mid March '71. Rust-free CA truck, sold new at Vel's Parnelli Jones Ford in Torrance. Good history/docs (big Marti), progress and pre-resto photos. Original body panels throughout except floors. Stroppe equipment intact minus original rims (easily obtainable - the original spare rim is shown - it's a chrome 15x8 wheel truck originally). Padded steering wheel, rollbar, trailer hitch, bumper braces, Auto trans coversion (with STROPPE lettered adapter tailshaft), Baja Bronco tire cover and name plates, dual shock mounts at all 4 corners. Original motor, trans, t-case, rear and front axles, carb tag, motor id tag, rear and front axle tags all present, original Ford vin jamb label, and Vin metal tag undisturbed. An amateur restoration with upgrades to 2.5" soft-riding lift springs, power steering and power disc brakes make this a great driver to restore later. Fewer than 400 of these were built over 5 years, and folks are starting to recognize their significance....this is a good one. There are probably less than 18k miles on the complete restoration of the truck. During the previous ownership, it was taken almost completely apart and everything was rebuilt. The nice thing is, he rebuilt all the original components so all date codes, etc, match. Some of the body work and paint work you can tell is not a high-dollar restoration, but mechanically and electrically it's first rate. Always starts on first click of the key(no cranking over and over), and drives out beautifully. Still has 4.11 gears so it spins alot of rpms at freeway speeds. Front floors were the only sheet metal replaced - as you can see the front fenders got "overtrimmed" at some point for large tires, but they could be repaired with some fender cut outs I've procured and will include with the sale. Also, note that the truck has Georgia plates and clear title - the previous owner lived in Georgia up until 3 years ago when he retired - the truck hadn't been there long, but is now in Saratoga, CA. This is a GREAT Baja to get in that it has a) never-wrecked, never a basket case history, and it's likely one of the very first 2 or 3 made, b) never rusty, c) is turn-key, and d)includes great documentation like the Marti report stating it was sold new at Parnelli Jones Ford (Parnelli is largely responsible for the Baja Bronco being made). The hits keep coming! Take a look and see if there are any other photos you want or need. Also, I reserve the right to sell this Baja early as it's listed elsewhere, but I will likely honor the auction - so bid accordingly and make this one yours... 408 515 5615 On Jul-05-12 at 10:34:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Alright, well, we are getting down to the last day here on this Baja. I lowered the reserve and now it is easily in reach, coming in for less than what other recent Bajas have gone for on eBay. I did shoot a video to show you how it goes and starts and sounds, etc. Here it is on you tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GojluCZFqEw&feature=plcp If that link doesn't work email me and I'll send you the link or the video itself via email.
