Vehicle Detail
1935 Rolls-Royce 25/30. Up for auction is a solid and unrestored example of a pre-war Rolls-Royce. The car has held up well for a seventy-seven year old British car. The car runs and drives (we have only driven it around our parking lot), the speedo, water temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, voltage gauge, horn and steering adjustment controls all work (the gas gauge and clock do not). The car stops fine, the brakes are sticky from not being used much. The car has almost all its facory tools under the drivers seat, it also has the tools under the hood (engine crank handle setup and hammer/tools for taking off the wheel). The front seat looks like it has the original leather from 1935, my friend tells me that the rear material is called West of England cloth and that is what these cars originally came with. The carpets are wool and also look to possibly be original. The car has a division with glass sliding window and had two fold away jump seats. The car also has rope handles to help get in and out of the car, and a glass vase (both possibly original to the car). The material is old and is showing its age, a rodent got into the passenger compartment and has nibbled the cloth on multiple places, including the headliner. The glue in the glass has dried out and stained the windows, however they are all flat panels.....therefore not hard or too expensive to replace. The body looks very good, straight and looks not to have been painted over too much. Paint is old and cracked in places, but you can see the original body under the chips. The running boards are in good shape as are the wooden floor panels. The frame is solid (just light surface pitting and some scale.....easily sanded and painted if desired). The chrome is presentable and has petina.....as does most of the car. The suspension looks solid and the rear leaf springs have their protective covering. This is the first pre-war Rolls we have ever had, and so I have limited knowledge about these cars. Please look at the pictures carefully before asking questions, because I may not have much more information for you. You are welcome to contact me through eBay or call my cell 559-801-8623 (10am-6pm California time, please check time difference, if any, before calling). The car is sold as-is and as equipped. However, you are welcome to come see and/or have the car inspected before the end of the sale. California buyers and any in-state sales are subject to sales tax, doc. & lic. fees. Payment is due in full within seven days of the end of the auction. Vehicles in California that are over ten years old are sold miles 'exempt'. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. On Jun-27-12 at 16:56:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Please note**** An eBayer who I believe to know his Rolls-Royces has told us that the Rolls registry shows that this car was built on the 11th of June 1937 and then send to London for the coach-work. Also, that the first owner of the car was Mrs. Blair Patterson, and that the British EUC939 lic plate is also the original from that time. Therefore, this car is a 1938 Rolls.....not a 1935 (sorry for the mis-information). So, I looked around the car and in the back of the glovebox found an old registration that confirms that the car is a 1938 model. Regards, Bill.
