Vehicle Detail

until recently this car ran like a dream. with the brand new 383 stroker in it it was quick, but the other night the radiator literally exploded on me (not sure why the cap didnt blow but the WHOLE side of the radiator blew out instead). anyway the electrical lights in the dash started blinking and going crazy i think the electrical system got wet and now its DOA. i shut it down quick so i think i avoided engine damage but it still wont start at this point but i dont think its the motor because the starter isnt even spinning, i think its the electricals that need to dry out. this is my dream car and if you read below you will see ALL the blood sweat and tears ive put into it over the last 3 years i owned it (it was bone stock and had no clutch and a regular lt1 motor when i bought it). at one time i would have done any amount of work to save my baby but i got disabled in the Marines and am on oxygen now so im going to let her go cheaply since she has some issues now and let another mechanic with better health get her back to the condition She deserves. by the way the car has something like 140,000 miles on it but the motor is new and has less than 2000 miles. *one note on the pictures, the picture of the full car from the side was BEFORE any of the graphics or the new wheels or the chrome dual exhaust, it was more plain then but it lets you know what the cars body looks like. no dents. vehicle will have to be picked up in person unless the buyer wants to arrange and pay for their own shipping. i live in Festus Missouri if you need to know for making driving and hauling considerations. Motor/Tranny --------------- -New, Larger Engine -383 Stroker made with LT1 block so everything original still fits the motor (only 1500 miles since the engine swap) -Built Professionally in "Spring, TX" by Herb Glaesman of Glaesman motors and shipped to MO -3 angle valve job -ported and polished heads -CC503-512 hydraulic roller cam (has a nice lope, makes it sound SERIOUSLY good) -Factory RAM-Air with K&N Filter -AC delete pulley -Borg-Warner T56 6spd manual transmission -Hurst Shifter w/pro5.0 bentstick short-throw shifter handle and black 6spd-layout style shifter ball -BBK Racing Headers -Reprogrammed computer (for tire size, revvs, gear ratio, and 02 Sensor bypass) -Centerforce Clutch -New Water Pump Chassis/Body/Etc. ------------------------------- -T-Tops Custom Dual Exhaust with Polished Chrome Tips and resonating chambers in place of mufflers) -gutted cats, but it doesnt read funny because the O2 sensors are deleted in the computer programming -4 wheel disc brakes -Corvette Z06 wheels - 5 spoke chrome (i got them brand new in the box about 1000 miles ago so they are practically perfect) 19s x 285s in the back, 18s x 265s in the front just as if the wheels came off a z06 its the same setup, the wheels were bought originally for a z06 the rear tires are so fat that i had to put 1 1/4" spacers on there just so they would clear the other parts in the rear, the extra width makes it look TOUGH and puts a lot of rubber to the ground. -Run-Flat tires in the rear -New shocks and springs in the rear -Richmond (or Motiv) Gear 4:10 Rear End Gears (i cant remember which brand the last set was that i put in because ive broken several sets with that monster motor and all that rubber on the ground but they are both good brands, although more noisy than stock type gears. -Large Black Custom 4th-Generation Bird Decal on the Hood -Large White Custom 4th-Generation Bird Decal on the Back Glass -Tinted and Heated back Glass -Tailshade Taillight Blackouts -8 Way Power Seat Including Power Lumbar Support -Custom Chrome Bird and "Trans Am" between the taillights -New Aluminum Gear Sets in the Headlights (as the plastic ones were prone to failure) -New Rack & Pinion (2500 miles ago) -New Power Steering pump the speedometer pic was taken with the original 3:42 gears in it when it would bury the speedometer at 160 in 5th gear and still have ALL of 6th gear left! now with the 4:10's it will still do every bit of 140 but if you need more speed than that you may want to put some 3:42's back in it. theyre less prone to breakage than 4:10s anyway and that motor makes so much torque you really have no need for shorter gears, with the 4:10's i have to take off in second gear just because first is useless with that much torque and short gears.... now the issues: dash has a dash cover because it has gotten too much sun and cracked (before i owned it). drivers seat has a tear. tinting is starting to come off drivers window, drivers window has started to come loose from its holder so its getting difficult to roll up or down (should just need adjusted and tightened down so it stops getting cockeyed in the track. and also, with this car making as much torque as it does and having such wide tires, either learn how to quickly put in a tranny mount and keep a few on hand (i can do it in 10 minutes and theyre dirt cheap)or consider spot welding or bolting your tranny solidly to the plate under it. it wont hurt anything it will just give you a lot more vibration in the stick. there are no dents and no real scratches, some slight surface imperfections in the paint but its 15 years old! i have refreshed ALL the decals and emblems from front to back and even added one to the hood and back glass to really make it stand out from the crowd. that combined with that awesome loping exhaust note from that aggressive cam and tough motor and custom exhaust makes it a real head turner, but ironically the cops never bother me even when i cant help but turn the tires over a bit when taking off. they usually just smile and wave! good luck and good bidding, if you have any more questions that i have failed to answer in this lengthy sermon feel free to email me! Chris On Jun-18-12 at 07:02:37 PDT, seller added the following information: one final note about that radiator, it was NOT overheated, temp and oil were in normal ranges, it wasnt even hot enough for the cap to let off steam, must have just been a massive crack in the radiator that finally turned loose, but a radiator can be had cheap and they take MAYBE 30 minutes to put in if youre not very fast and theres not that much cost associated with anything electrical that could have went bad from getting wet on that car so for the cheap price you cant go wrong, the body itself is worth every bit of 4-5k and theres $8,000 worth of upgrades and customizations to it to boot! a great car for a mechanically minded guy who loves good ol american muscle and wants to pick up an easy project car for cheap.
