Vehicle Detail

CLASSIC STUDEBAKER HAWK PROJECT CAR SERIAL NUMBER G 1432519 Engine: Not running. I started the engine several years ago but it's been in storage since. After engine running I removed thermostat and hoses to clean water passages, still dissassembled. I purchased new rotor, points, cap, plugs, wires - included but not installed. Car came with oil bath air filter, I also purchased an air filter element type (with new air filter). Odometer is 88527 - who knows how many times it's been around? Alternate Engine: I also have a Studebaker 8 cylinder engine for sale if you want a bigger engine (the six is pretty weak but gets better mileage - the Silver Hawk came with either the six or 8 cylinder. Not sure whether the 8 cylinder will bolt to existing transmission, issues with engine mounts etc). Interior: The upholstery is totally thrashed (but recoverable). Headliner gone, but mounting rods all there. Drivers front floor is rusted through, i purchased a replacement panel and master cylinder access plate (included, but not installed). Otherwise floor looks to be intact. Door panels are removed, fiber board is warped - amazingly the vinyl is still intact and could possibly be used with replacement board (or at least for patterns). Exterior: Sheet metal complete, all there, looks like some bondo in places. Rear left taillight housing cracked, I purchased a replacement used one but not installed. Chrome is pitted and or slightly rusted, some medallions may be are broken or missing. Trunk lock present, not working (have ignition key but no trunk key). Glass all intact. Door window regulators not working well door window trim thrashed. Wheels and Brakes. Five stock wheels, includes four nice factory hub caps (I think correct for the car). Tires hold air (mixed 15" sizes). I had started working on the brakes, new master and all four wheel cylinders (99% sure the front wheel cylinders bearings, seals installed - it's been awhile but they aren't in the pile of new parts). New shoes. Rear brakes dissassembled (drums and brakes off car), includes some extra used drums I picked up, rear brakes parts in box. Includes replacement brake lines & fittings (cutting and flaring required). Includes reprinted Studebaker 1956 Passenger Car Shop Manual I will be updating this ad and will post a youtube video for you to check out the car. Delivery possible up to 200 miles at $4/mile, otherwise up to you to arrange. Here's some nice info on the Studebaker Hawks. Note I also have a 1963 Grand Tourismo Hawk project car for sale. http://www.1956goldenhawk.com/diffhawk.htm On Jun-19-12 at 23:31:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Update Tuesday June 19 Added photos. Note bondo/rust left fin. Note taillight housing crack left fin (but spare painted housing included not shown). Note drivers window surround damaged - window regulator not working. All per above description. On Jun-20-12 at 22:48:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Update Wednesday June 20 ENGINE'S RUNNING! I hooked up a can of gas and battery, filled the water, and she fired right up! Sounds real smooth and nice. Got oil pressure. This "L Head" straight six has 185.6 cubic inches, 101 Horsepower @ 4000 RPM. Single barrel Carter carb. I noticed the dome light works on both door switches. On Jun-21-12 at 11:34:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Update Thursday June 21 VIDEO AVAILABLE Here's a link to video showing car in detail including the engine running: http://youtu.be/8cupsHzWphsOn Jun-23-12 at 23:44:47 PDT, seller added the following information: Update Saturday June 23 Some varios issues folks have been asking about: Questions about shipping: I've been telling folks that I'd like the car to go away within two weeks. However I understand this could be difficult and can work with you (not beyond end of July unless you confirm date with me first). I'm OK with auto shipper as long as you handle all the costs (doesn't matter to me if you or a shipper picks up the car). I can to deliver the car to you or to a shipper (within 75 miles) for $200 (I'd need to rent a trailer to do this). Title and registration: Not sure the last year car was driven. I've owned it since 1996, the previous owner started the car for me but the brakes were not working at that time. However I have clear title and it's been on non-op since then. There should be no problems with change of ownership, registration, back fees for you. Thanks for your interest and good luck!
