This is a 1995 Ford Escort Wagon that has been completely converted to electric power. There are the usual two front seats and a small jump seat behind the driver. The rest of the back is covered with 16 6-volt deep-cycle batteries. There are three more batteries under the hood along with the motor and other electrical devices. The charging devices are all on board so you just plug it in to any ordinary wall outlet to charge over night. The batteries are fairly tired and need to be reconditioned or replaced. I am afraid I am not the expert who built it so I cannot say much about the specs, but I will give the buyer the schematic I have and the contact information of the man who built it. I drove it to work and back for about a year but have lost interest now. The man I bought it from commuted twenty miles daily for seven or eight years with it. This is a great car for someone inclined to tinker and learn about electric powered vehicles. I have had my fun with it, now it is your turn! Since I am not the builder I cannot speak with any authority about the vehicle so this is an "as is" auction. No promises! It has been sitting for a few months. I can still get it around the block, but you should plan on removing it with a tow truck as the range is low since it has not been run regularly. The vehicle is located in Lansing, Illinois. To keep the power drain to a minimum, there is no radio and no heat. THe manual transmission also boosts its efficiency. To keep an eye on battery condition, I have used plexiglas covers over the rear deck batteries. With all the batteries, the car is quite heavy, but the suspension has been beefed up so it rides fine.
