Vehicle Detail
Rare, very nice, clean 1997 White Honda Accord with Tinted Windows, A/C, with very low miles, 56,580, and in excellent overall condition for the age of the car, is up for sale This is a Right Hand Drive vehicle with clear title in Alabama, imported from Japan (thru a dealer in California). I am the first owner in the U.S. So, title issues because of importation are resolved. This is a U.S. Vehicle now. The Vehicle VIN as it appears on my title is:CE11716392, but because U.S. VINs have 17 digits, seven 0s are added after CE11 in the VIN by the Honda dealer when they first had to service it here in Tuscaloosa, AL, and same VIN number is used for other websites (including Ebay listing site) if they insist on 17 digit VIN. Also, I took a chance when I bought it over the internet, and had it shipped to Alabama. I wanted to drive it and fix any issues before I shipped it to India. The car runs great and sips fuel. Originally bought for export to a foreign country for my mother (hence I wanted a reliable, hassle free RHD); but now exporting a RHD SUV (a Toyota Landcruiser with a camper coversion). Need to sell this asap to fund the camper conversion on the Landcruiser. Hence low reserve on Ebay for this rare, excellent vehicle. Great for Right Hand Drive Enthusiasts, or Expatriates missing RHD or RURAL U.S. MAIL CARRIERS. Mail Carriers: You can put your mail tray in the back (the back seat folds down opening up the space to load mail); see what other carrier owners of similar model year cars (imported thru the same dealer) are saying on their website: http://ruralinfo.net/ruralmailtalk.html#nabble-td4775639 Since that dealer went of business recently, it is almost next to impossible to import one into the U.S. as a non-dealer, i.e., an individual buyer. So, this may be a rare chance for those of you wanting to buy a great RHD in this country. If you're bleeding money driving gas guzzling RHD Jeeps or beat-up Subaru Wagons, you're in luck. Drive in style, comfort and save money. It could be your daily driver and your mail delivery vehicle. One mail carrier owner of an almost exact model says he was 'tickled' with the mielage. Half the gas used by Subaru was needed with his RHD Honda. Read for yourself on the ruralinfo.net discussion on RHD Honda Accords by other mail carriers. Some describe it as the ideal, mail carrier vehicle. If you wished for one, here is your chance. Electric Folding Side Mirrors, and many other goodies (being a U.S. export model for Japan). Vehicle built in the U.S. by Honda of America for export to Japan, and reimported. A powerful VTEC motor (Ward's Best Top 10 Engines award for two years in 95, 96) with great mileage per gallon; Full specs of the engine, F22B1, can be found at: http://allenginelist.com/cars/f22b1-honda-engine-specs/ Custom 17 inch premium Wheels and almost-new, all season, extra load tires with less than 500 miles on them Only change I made to the car is putting tint on the windows and regular maintenance (since it was not driven much by me) like oil change and fuel injection cleaning, balancing tires and other minor issues. Has U.S. compatable Radio (with CD player) put in after the import. However, I have the original Japan compatible radio and CD player. Known Issues: 1. Body does have minor dings and dents that are barely visible (that were there when I bought it). It does have a very, very small hole in the paint on the hood. It was caused by bird dropping that wasn't cleaned. This happened in my storage. See picture for size of hole. All body damage is very minor (see pictures) and dents can be pulled out, and hole can be touched up. Car is priced for the damage repairs. 2. The check engine light comes and goes, and I have taken it to both Honda dealer and Good Year locally. They couldn't find anything wrong. Drives fine. Good Year thinks it's ghost error code. Has it in writing from the mechanic that nothing wrong was found. Another carrier owner on the above website also reported that his check engine light comes on.. I believe mine has not been driven much for a long time (during the import and with me for two years), and regular driving may flush the issue out. I believe 1997 Accords have this problem per the mechanic at Good Year. A google research will show the ghost and misfire codes for the check engine light, when there was no misfiring. I am not a mechanic and do not offer any warranty on the vehicle. I made good faith effort to rectify what I consider it to be a minor issue. But you buy the vehicle at your own risk. This condition was not revealed to me by the dealer. Nor did they disclose that there was a bent wheel. Just last week, I paid $130 dollars to repair two bent wheels. I paid about a $1,500 or so in shipping to Alabama and then minor repairs, maintenance, diagnostics, tinting the windows, etc., as I wanted a very reliable car for my mother. Because of my efforts, your level of risk in buying this car is reduced as I made the car better than when I found it. 20 more pictures coming soon! The vehicle is also up for sale for the Ebay Buy-It price of $8500 locally, and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Happy Bidding, and don't bid if you can't pay. Thanks for looking! Good Luck! On Jun-11-12 at 12:20:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Revision Notes: 1. Please see Good Year Invoice image for work done on Check Engine Light On, and Tony's (Service Manager) handwritten notation that "No problem was found at this time." 2. Please See Conversion Parts Chart Image for parts installed at the time of conversion to conform to U.S. standards. Apparently these parts are worth $3,000 per one user on Ruralinfo.net blog discussion on the website listed above in the listing. The mail carrier says that Timing Belt is changed at the time of conversion. This can be verified by the Conversion Parts Chart where Timing Belt is listed. That should save you big bucks in future as it is a costly replacement. 3. The vehicle can use a good detailing including hosing the undercarriage. I have hand cleaned it. But there is no substitute for thorough detailing and waxing, hopefully after you repair the minor body damage and do the paint up job. Then, I am sure, it will look almost brand new from the outside. 4. Some of the pictures are from the dealer from 2010 June, and I did not retake those. Any changes are minor, and I tried to show the new damage where easily possible. For instance, I did not retake the picture of the undercarriage. I am sure it needs some cleaning to restore to the Dealer's picture condition. 5. This car was not garage kept. So, it was exposed to the weather for about two years. And I only cleaned it once. So, thorough detailing is highly desirable. Please feel free to email me any questions you may have, I will answer them to the best of my ability.
