1978 450SEL 6.9 Mercedes-Benz for sale. The interior is in good shape, not perfect but good. Does not have a trunk key, so we can't get trunk open. As of a year ago it started and ran great, but hasn't been started since. The back bumper is off but we have it and it is included in the sale. We will take additional pics at bidders request. Excellent automobile for restoration or parts. This is an extremely rare automobile. This is supposedly a grey market car, this car was not exported by Mercedes- Benz it was brought from Europe by former owner. This car was never equipped with an american emission control system "smog". As a result it has an additional 20-35 Horsepower or so i'm told. The fastest sled I ever drove. At the time of manufactuer this was the fastest production motor car in the world. A former owner had and drove it in Arizona. I am told that these automobiles were largely sold to Diplomats and Ambassadors who valued their great speed as it enabled them to escape from terroists. The car has flat tires and we are unsure about the brakes, and as a result thereof it is our considered opinion that the car should be towed or trailered. I am told that the motor alone is worth $5000,00. Any and all payments by check or money order must clear before vehicle is moved and all vehicles are sold as is where is.
