VIDEOS! yes videos were added, and with sound! Scroll to the bottom of the page, videos of the sunroof, engine, a/c, headliner, instrument cluster, interior and of course, driving down the road. There were so many requests it became easier to post more pictures so I took off her cover and got some pictures of her in the sun. I really went through the entire car, there were many questions about rust or rust issues, This car is almost rust free. I wasn't able to use a lift so I just shot pictures holding the camera underneath the car and a slight lift. There is some surface rust on pieces like the exhaust pipes, rotors, a little on wheel lugs, little things but really not much underneath the car or engine. Here is the ugly, I said almost rust free. Look at the new pictures, there are two spots that are so non concerning, each can be easily repaired without restoring the car. Both spots are on the drivers side, as previously mentioned, under the drivers door sill I found a cancer hole almost the size of a quarter. It did not go through to the bottom rockers, they are solid and still nicely covered, did not gp to or through anything, just that hole covered by the door sill. The other spot is on the underneath of the trunk behind the drivers wheel well. You can not see it from the sides but underneath, you can see some degradation, the only bad part is a hole about 2" but not round, more long. I found it by removing the rubber mat in the trunk, I hadn't noticed it before today, once I removed the mat outdoors, the light came through. When operating the sunroof for the video, a small flake of paint came off in one corner about quarter size. There is also some missing paint, looks like a piece of tape was set on the roof, maybe during transport, no rust, undercoat, just the brown gone. I hope the new pictures help, if there are any specific items or specific pictures please let me know. I have not figured out how to send pictures through the ebay question stream so please send an address for additional pictures. 1970 Mercedes Benz 300sel 6.3! with only 52K miles If you are looking at this car then you probably already know what she is, a W109 300 sel 6.3, the M100 engine. If you are looking and are not familiar, this is the real deal, a sedan built on an air ride suspension with the engine used by Mercedes Benz to power their limousines. This is literally a sports car in a sedan form. The ride is incredible and the power, amazing. From Wikipedia: "Waxenberger's principle was simple: take the powerful 6.3 litre V8 Mercedes-Benz M100 engine from the luxurious Mercedes-Benz 600 limousine, and fit it into the regular Mercedes-Benz W109 S-Class model which only had 6-cylinder engines at that time. The result was a nearly 2-tonne saloon with performance similar to most dedicated sports cars of the era. It is said that Rudolf Uhlenhaut, when invited to test drive the prototype, opened the hood at the first red light to find out how the big engine and its supporting equipment had been squeezed in there. Surprisingly, the rather conservative company went ahead and launched the car into the marketplace at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1968,[1] in order to make better use of the M100 engine production facilities. The 6,500 build of the 6.3 outnumbered the 2,700 build of the 600 by far. What set this car apart from its contemporaries in the late 1960s though, was that it could cruise at over 200 km/h (124 mph) with 5 occupants in complete comfort within the body styled by Paul Bracq. You can go to any of the classic car value guides, these are worth money and restored, the value exceeds the cost of restoration on a car this complete without any major issues. The starting asking on this auction is very reasonably and fairly priced. I do not know too much about her, I just got her a few months ago, she has clear signed tennesee title. I purchased her directly from the previous owner who I do not believe had any intentions of selling her until we started chatting about a different investment. The previous owner explained that he took care of her, a mechanic and teacher by trade, started her regularly but literally, she did not leave the garage for four years. Some minor surface rust, the only real cancer is a spot under the drivers door sill about the size of a quarter. I have gone through the car but not worked on her so there may be something I am currently unaware of but at this stage, she appears very solid. The engine and transmission appear to be in really good to almost great, running condition. The only thing I can find not original is the electric starter but if you have owned one of these before, it was nice to see the previous owner helped with the upgrade. She has original paint with the clear coat peeling. Original almost everything and most is still in very presentable condition. I would like to see her have some restoration attention, a little love. I would go for paint, major tune up/overhaul, carpet, wood, maybe seats and the little minor things that don't look their best after 42 years. Her air suspension system holds, her bags, chambers and lines all appear to be working, there is a leak in the main valve, just needs rebuilding or replacement. The front will stand with the supply valve and holds for hours after she is turned off. The rear is not coming up, not sure why, it had recently. Tires hold well and no body damage identified. The paint, if not original, was the best paint job ever performed on a vehicle many years ago. I believe this is original paint with peeling clear coat. Few minor trim pieces need addressing and ofcourse, the wood. I haven't had her very long, I lost my storage and workshop at the same time I got her, I know little and have had no time to play with her. I believe things like dash lights are out, pretty sure like most of these cars, clock stopped. Could be fuses, could be components or wiring, I just havent had the time with her to figure it out. Please ask away, I can forward pictures and answer or attempt to discover the answers to your questions. 249- Rear window, heat-insulating glass 491- U.S. Version 503- Outside rearview mirror, on the left 513- Becker radio 531- Automatic antenna 580- Air conditioner/ Tempmatic 423- Tobacco Brown Videos Driving http://youtu.be/WH6lY4aYztE Engine running http://youtu.be/rldDW9_O5Tk Engine and car http://youtu.be/K9LuNehZy5o Headliner http://youtu.be/tyN8sEnDD40 Sunroof http://youtu.be/lfGtu1XtlaQ Air Conditioning both settings and off http://youtu.be/FGYy2XeBgGM Instrument Cluster gas accelerated http://youtu.be/RcNdnoi2D-I
