When I answered the first question, I was going from memory. As more questions came in, I went through the documentation and got the specific data so I could quote accurately. Here are the specifics in answering the questions: It was imported into the US through Ray Burnette VW, Alexandria, VA, on May 7, 1986. The mileage on it at the conversion, certified as correct by the importer, was 8,276 (which I assume was a conversion from the original odometer in kilometers to the US odometer in miles). I have the original odometer statement from the importer. So, the mileage show on the odometer is correct. The person who imported it through Ray Burnette VW is the same person I bought the car from. I've added a pic that shows the full importer plate and emissions certification that is affixed to body inside of the drivers door. There is a sticker above the importer's VIN stamped plate that certifies that the vehicle meets all US emissions standards at the time it was imported (it does have a catalytic converter). I purchased the vehicle on July 21, 1999. At that time it had 26,796 miles. I do have the maintenance/repair records from the time the vehicle was imported. Please ask if there are additional questions. *** This beautiful 500SL only has 45k miles - red with tan interior. I am the 2nd owner and I knew the first owner... so I know the mileage is accurate and it's been well cared for. It's always been garaged, has never seen snow, and rarely seen rain. I had an appraisal done, by a company that does show cars, and it was valued at $24,000 on October 15, 2008. I've only put 2k miles on it since then. If you'd like to see the appraisal, I have it as a pdf and can email it. All maintenance records are included. The car is 100% original (paint, both soft and hard tops, wheels, etc. ). Even the old analog clock in the dash works and the Mercedes first aid kit is still in the original packaging. I have the hard top (included in the sale) which is in perfect condition. It hasn't been smoked in and has never been in any sort of accident (major or minor). It has a Kenwood sound system that features a motorized rotating face so that when the ignition is turned off, you can't see the stereo. The rear speaker enclosures have clips that slide around the rear deck (no holes added to the deck), and the amplifier/CD Changer in the trunk are attached to a bracket that bolts in using existing bolts in the trunk (again, no additional holes). Otherwise, the car has cruise control, power windows, power locks, power antenna, power steering/bakes, heated leather seats, 5.0L engine (8 cylinder), it's a gray marked car shipped from Germany and both a German and English owners manual are included, a/c works just fine with auto climate control, fog lights... essentially loaded with options. Also included is a cloth car cover - and while the car is always kept in the garage... it's usually covered with the cloth cover too.I entered the VIN into the automated ebay system and for some reason, it get's rejected - which is why it is not shown above.
