Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1976 Mercedes-Benz 450 SL up for sale. It has had one owner, my wife's grandmother, until she gave it to my wife in February of this year. It is built like a tank and could provide years more service with a little TLC. My wife's 92 year old grandmother quit driving a few years back and most of the driving that she did for years before that was minimal and very local. It has spent most of it's life parked inside a residential garage in Southern California, which has kept the exterior paint and black MB Tex seats in very good condition. The soft top is also in good condition. The tires are in good shape and we put in a new factory spec battery and just had the oil changed. I have driven it around locally here in Colorado and it runs good, stops good, steers good and shifts good. It smokes a little when it's cold but seems to clear up pretty quickly once once it's warmed up. It has never been in a major collision. It has a few flaws however; The passenger side window is stuck in between down and up; The control switch for that window was removed by my wife's, aunt's boyfriend in a misguided attempt to repair it; the driver side tail-light housing is broken and there is very minor body damage on that side; The steering wheel is not aligned dead center but it steers well and doesn't drift; can't get the driver's side seat belt all the way out. I would love to be able to hang on to it and fix it up but our resources are very limited right now so our loss is your gain. We had a VIN inspection at the local police station and have a copy of that. We have the title free and clear. We have a receipt for registration that says it is current through August 2012 for California although the sticker itself is not on the car. Hopefully the pictures will capture the beauty of this classic automobile. Buyer is responsible for picking the vehicle up. Thanks for looking and good luck.
