Vehicle Detail

1963 Fairlane Pro Street built by a professional race car shop, not some guy with a Sawzall. All relevant information will follow, including build specs for the engine. This car runs hard. It is a full on race car that happens to be street legal. The builders started out with a nice body and added only very professional work and premium parts. As with many expensive projects, this one ran out of money and/or patience at about the same time the race shop went under. Lots of pictures and videos of the car in action will be added to the listing. Please click Watch This Item and stay tuned...Thanks for Looking! Dan LarsonOn May-24-12 at 19:59:22 PDT, seller added the following information: 5/24/12 Still waiting on the engine specs; there is a file folder with brand names, receipts, and build documentation working its way to me very slowly. So as not to look like a doofus while I keep you waiting, I am adding what can be seen and photographed in support of my ongoing representation. First off, I would like to point out that my 10 second estimate (and I have been going to drag strips since 1964) is my honest opinion of what this car will do right now, through the mufflers, AT THIS ALTITUDE. Denvers track (a beautiful facility, thanks to the Bandimere family) is more than a mile high - it is fair to say that the car will be measurably faster at lower altitudes. That said, I am adding some pictures to show build quality, plus the few facts I have picked up about the motor. Current carburetor is an 850 cfm unit; it was installed in place of the 1050 cfm unit the engine was built to handle, in the interest of streetability. I am told that the car runs even stronger on the bigger carb, though it is not included in the auction. The cylinder heads are marked D3VE-2A2, and are heavily ported and polished. I will be putting the car up in the air tomorrow for pictures of the fabrication work, and will do a driveshaft spin to give you a ballpark gear ratio. So far, I can see that the sheetmetal is clean and nicely formed. The only crud on the underside is sticky rubber thrown off the tires. This is not a tired war horse - it is a high quality race car with only shakedown runs on it. The motor is fresh, and the chassis is ready to be dialed in to your home track. Or to terrorize the street racers in your town. Of course, we all know that would be illegal. At this point, I can flatly state that you couldn't come close to building this car for the Buy it Now price, period. I have set the fiberglass hood on without fastening or aligning it, so don't be put off by the gaps. The aluminum fuel cell is a hand fabricated work of art. I will lay out all the body trim and interior parts, along with interior pictures, in plenty of time for you to make an informed bid. I am still trying to figure out how to attach the videos of the car making a quick pass down the street in front of the warehouse (again, potentially unlawful, check your local ordinances first), and will move it to YouTube if all else fails. Meanwhile, stay tuned, and thanks for your patience...DanOn May-25-12 at 10:13:07 PDT, seller added the following information: 5/25/12 Here is the capsule version of internal modifications I received by email this morning: Dan, here's more info on the fairlane motor: Heads are the 3rd set, they went thru 2 sets of dove heads, and finally got these D1 heads to hold up to the porting. They flowed 325 cfm at 620 valve lift. Heavily ported, and spent about 60 hours on the flow bench. Valves are all stainless oversized. Motor is 496 cu in with pontiac length cryogenically treated rods. Stroke is 4.100, and the forged pistons have a compression ratio of 10:2 to 1, so that it CAN go pump gas, but loves race fuel. Roller rockers of course, and cam is a flat tappet, solid lifter 250 duration@ 0.50, 610 valve lift. Push rods were also cryogenically treated, all work was done in house at Roys Performance Motors. MSD pro billet distributor, and ignition. Cloyes double roller. Transmission is a C6 with a shift kit, and cryo treated parts. Has a 10" 3500 stall converter. The rear end has 4:11 posi set up, with adjustable coil overs. Has a hurst line lock set up as well. That's it for the moment, more pics and info coming, including the promised YouTube link with rump-rump audio - rocks the body!...Dan On May-25-12 at 13:40:06 PDT, seller added the following information: Well, I couldn't find a little kid to explain how to set up a YouTube link, so it looks liks manual entry. In the YouTube search box, enter Prostreet63FairlaneII (that's capital ii, not ell ell) and you will get a short video taken when the car arrived at the warehouse. Since the car was an unfinished project at the time (and still is, but much less so), it was decided to test running condition before spending any time on reassembly. The body parts missing in the video are either already mounted, or included in the auction; the purpose of the video was only to demonstrate running condition at the time. At no time were the secondaries even opened - assuming you have decent speakers on your computer, the sound is the point. Not a chrome dress up motor with glasspacks...On May-26-12 at 12:41:15 PDT, seller added the following information: 5/26/12 This should be my last entry of pictures and description. Sorry for the encyclopedia sized listing, but I want to make sure you see everything you get - and you get a LOT. Pictures of parts on the blue moving pads should have the zoom feature, so you can read part numbers, count trim pieces, and get an even better idea just how much time, effort, and money is in this car. The last two pictures are closer duplicates of the third parts group, just to be sure you know about the new in box pieces you won't have to buy. Door and trunk weatherstrip kits, Autometer Monster Tach, full wiring harness kit, right down to the trim clips new in blister packs; all of this is included, which saves you time and money. If there's anything unclear, I can still answer questions right up until the auction ends, but my ability to add pictures or info to the listing ends 12 hours before the end time. Just to cover a few questions before signing off - I am representing this car objectively, with no incentive to overstate. I don't own it, and my Ebay reputation means more to me than how much the car sells for. I am not on commission, so if it was a pile, I would say so. It's not. In fact, every aspect of the build meets or exceeds standards I would adhere to if it were my own car. It will be stored in my warehouse for 30 days free of charge, if you need more time we can work that out. Terms of payment are outlined already, I ask that you respect them as fully as I do your car. Unless cleared in advance, I will disqualify zero feedback bids - this is only fair to the serious bidders who shouldn't have to compete against unrealistic dreamers. Thanks Again! DanOn May-26-12 at 19:08:36 PDT, seller added the following information: 5/26/12 Last entry? Nope. It was brought to my attention that the absence of bumpers was addressed in the Q&A section, but not in the main text. Rather than have anybody think that I was downplaying that fact, here it is: There are no bumpers. The original plan was to use fiberglass reproductions, but there is no reason (other than weight) not to use stock chromed steel units available off any four door Fairlane. Bottom line is, you're on your own for bumpers. This applies to anything not shown in the pictures, for the simple reason that I have shown everything in the pictures. If you don't see it, it's not there...Still, if you have any questions, I'm ready and willing to walk out into the shop and have a look. Okay, I'm done. Really. I mean it this time. Thanks.
