Denali ABSOLUTE AUCTION - BIDDING STARTS AT $1 Going all the way, now! 2000 Twin Turbo Audi Quattro A6 All photos are of the actual vehicle We were left a one car family after we recently sold our beloved Denali for money to use toward our house. My friend (since upgraded to "good friend") learned about this and offered, "Hey, why don't you just go ahead and use my Audi?" I took him up on his offer and we have had the opportunity to enjoy and fall in love with this machine. We have been driving it for a couple months now and I can say without any reservations that this is a fast, solid, reliable and fun machine. It's fast in a different way than the Corvettes and muscle cars I have driven. Drive it very conservatively and the 2.7 Liter engine will give you the service and economy of a Nissan Sentra or a Honda Accord, BUT give the accelerator a little nudge at around 2000 rpm and this thing transforms into a high performance machine. Those twin turbos kick in and everyone in the car says "whoahhh!" Furthermore, this is the poster boy for "turns like it's on rails"... Never felt anything like it. Perhaps it is because the previous owner was a performance enthusiast and lowered it a little, but I'm a pretty conservative older driver, so I never pushed it to its limits. I've just given it a little gas to make the girls scream. Lots of pics and information about this car. Here's your chance to get the enjoyment and prestige of a $50,000 vehicle for the price of used economy car. High bidder takes it... Bid on! Here's what the test driver at Cars magazine says about the Audi A6 2.7T: "If I were a rich man - not filthy rich, mind you, just nicely rich - looking for a suitable set of wheels, I'd seriously consider the Audi A6 2.7T. I really like this car. Not only does this lovely automobile bespeak a certain level of affluence, it also goes like stink." The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY Many of my eBay transactions have been "big ticket" items (cars, campers, real estate, etc.). Having been on both sides of transactions I know the importance of "full disclosure" so if you take the time to read on you will find more information than you need to know about the vehicle in this auction and if you have any questions we will answer them and post them for others to read. You've heard, "there are no stupid questions." Well, actually, there are... but we'll answer them and post them anyway. The GOOD Just bid, win, drive and enjoy! - This is a real opportunity. The auction ends Sunday night. It will sell to the highest bidder. Bid before time runs out. TIMING BELT - Timing belt replacement is a necessity (and a costly one) on all Audis (and Hondas, and Toyotas, and...). You won't have to worry about it for another 80,000 or more miles. The timing belt and water pump were replaced professionally about 20,000 miles ago by the Audi shop. FRONT SUSPENSION - Another must is front suspension replacement on all Audis (mileage varies). My friend needed only the right side, but bought the entire front suspension kit in a package. The right side is done, but the left side kit will be included in case you may need it. This is not too difficult of a job for the backyard mechanic should you want to tackle it, someday. If you want to do it now and be done with it, I'll ask him if he'd do it for you. A/C COMPRESSOR/DRIER - The compressor was causing the fan belt to squeak, so these parts were replaced over the winter. It will need a vacuum and a charge service for the summer. REBUILT TITLE - Rebuilt title good? In this case, yes, yes it is. This vehicle was never "wrecked." However, the rebuilt title will scare enough people off that you will be able to save an extra $1000 (or more) off the price of this great Audi. (More details and pics below) THE 2.7L TWIN TURBO - You've heard of zoom, zoom, zoom... this thing is vroom, vrooom, vroooom! Recently, an Audi mechanic was very impressed with this vehicle and wanted to purchase it, but did not have the funds on hand. I'm impressed by the feel, the smoothness, the acceleration, but who am I? However, when the Audi mechanic is impressed, that means something. There is no reason this Audi shouldn't last another 100,000 or 200,000 miles. It is mechanically sound and has enjoyed the best synthetic oil and premium fuels. My friend insists on fuel only from Marathon and stays away from Speedway, Flying J and others known for their cheap gas. 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION - Couldn't imagine a performance machine like this without the 6 speed, however, they are quite rare. Shifts smooth and effortlessly. AUDI S6 - This is an Audi A6 disguised as an S6! The previous owner updated the look of this machine by rebranding it from A6 to an S6. After all, the Audi in this auction is appointed nearly identically to the Audi S6 which came out a few years later. POWER SEATS - Both the driver and passenger seats are power. In addition, the driver's seat has multiple memory settings. DRINK AND MONEY DRAWERS - For some reason, one or the other (or both) of these are missing the lighted faceplates on nearly every Audi. They are in perfect condition on this vehicle. No detailing done... looking good. See touch drawers for money (credit cards) and drinks at top. The BAD STREET CHALLENGES - It takes a little getting used to. Other drivers take notice of you on the street. If you're driving a Camry and you pass someone, you're just passing someone. If you pass someone in this A6 (lookin' like a newer S6) they notice and take it as a challenge. I just ignore them. However, other drivers can't seem to ignore you. Just as a race horse incites all the other horses to join in the race, you will have the same effect on other drivers even though you are just heading to the grocery. DRIVER'S MOOD SEAT - These are the optional luxury seats, not the standard sport seats. They are not only very comfortable, the driver's seat has the very rare, "Mood Option." Just as the vehicle information panel indicates the needs of the vehicle (fuel, washer fluid, etc.), the driver's mood detector will display the needs of the driver (drink, food, etc.). The stronger the need of the driver, the more specific the display (Diet Coke, Big Mac, etc.). This sounds like a good thing, but as you can see by the display below it can get embarrasing, especially if you're on a first date. Actual display from the dash of the vehicle in this auction. RE-TARDINESS - This feature is bad, not only because it can be mistaken for insensitivity to the mentally handicapped, but because it can happen often. Once you get behind the wheel of this Audi you lose track of time. You just want to keep driving. It's called "RE" - tardiness because it may happen to you over and over again. It may also come with a sense of cockiness as in, "My boss is lucky I show up at all!" THE VADERS - The photo below was snapped with my LG phone yesterday after I stopped at a local eatery. I was feeling "Bad-A$$" already (I was driving this Audi, after all). However, I had to do a double-take as I walked past the window. Just look at the photo below, it explains why after you get out from behind the wheel of this Audi you find all other vehicles "disturbing." This machine looks like Darth Vader sitting between two lowly storm troopers. Photo from left to right... $35,000 storm trooper... DARTH VADER... $28,000 storm trooper. The UGLY THE SEATS - The previous owner upgraded the vehicle successfully in several ways (window tinting, lowered, BMW style plush headliner, etc.). However, they attempted to alter the color or treat the leather seats with something innapropriate. They look awful. Add to that the fact that my friend sat in the driver's seat with a sharp object on his person causing a good sized tear and I thought I would do him a favor and purchase a set of custom "slip-on" seat covers. They look great. They are two-tone and have zippered sections on the rear seats which still allow the backs to fold down independently for those occasions that you need to carry skis or other such long objects placed in the trunk. Seats aren't torn up, they're just UGLY. Currently have new covers, but here's what they look like underneath. However, note how perfect the paint is on all door jambs! Seats are solid, comfy and ugly. Here you can see the substantial power seat controls for the passenger as we prepare to install the seat covers. Seat covers look great. Covers still allow access to power seat controls. Getting ready to tighten seat cover straps under the seats. Covers custom for Audi A6. They do not hinder side airbags. INFO CENTER / LIGHTS - Every Audi's INFO CENTER display drops pixels. The info center (when it works) is very detailed with cool graphics. There are people who sell a simple "fix" for the dropped LED pixels on eBay. It looks interesting because they get many positive feedbacks saying how well this works. After a quick search on youtube I discovered a very detailed video showing how to do the fix! Check it out. The check engine light is on but there are no mechanical problems on this vehicle. On a trip to Florida last year my friend hit a chuckhole and the airbag light lit up and has not gone out since. If it is a connection, a sensor or simply needs reset we have not checked. It is NOT related to any collision. SEE PHOTO BELOW SIDE MIRRORS - Originally the side mirrors were a mirror "sandwich." 2 mirrors with some sort of fluid in between the layers that would defog/defrost. After a few years they tend to not do as intended, so the top mirror layer was removed and the fluid was washed off leaving a perfectly acceptable pair of mirrors. The passenger mirror didn't fair so well in the transformation, so the glass was replaced with VW mirror which is a tighter fit making the power mirror on that side inoperable. VW glass in Audi mirror is a tight fit. Chipped silver paint at left bottom corner (A chip so nice you see it twice!) THE BOSE SYSTEM - The sound system works, but it has no ooomph at all. That is because the BOSE Amplifier that can be found in the compartment inside the trunk cannot be found there. That's because it is MISSING! My buddy wanted to put a custom sound system in so he didn't replace the BOSE amp. He said the previous owner cut the wires and didn't leave the plug to plug the BOSE right in. Personally, I love the integrated look of the dash, sound system and climate control, so if it were mine I would not change the audio system. I would buy a BOSE amp from an auto-recycler and ask them to include both sides of the plug. Then just match the wire colors. It's up to you. RIGHT REAR QUARTER PANEL - The passenger rear quarter panel was bumped which cracked the finish at the seam. This gave us reason to take a close look in this area and we have determined that the this rear quarter section does not have orginal paint. The color is good and glossy, it blends well with the original paint, but the surface is not smooth as glass like the rest of the vehicle. SEE PHOTO BELOW Bump at seam where quarter panel meets bumper. Weather did not cooperate with photo taking. CRACK IN LENS - All light lenses are good (Head, tail, etc.) . However, this lens on the trunk below the Audi logo has a crack. SEE PHOTO BELOW Taillights, Headlights, Parking, etc. are all good. However, here is a close-up of a crack in trim/lens on trunk. REAR WINDOW TINT - The window tint is peeling at the bottom on the rear windows. The front had the same, but my friend discovered that the window tint has two layers. He just peeled off the entire top layer of tint. The result is window tinting without flaws, but less dark, of course. SEE PHOTO BELOW CHROME HEADLIGHT TRIM - No one notices because the headlights look good, but some of the chrome has chipped off on the trim under the headlights. This trim is less than $10 here on eBay if you want to update it. SEE PHOTOS BELOW FOG TRIM - One fog light trim was missing, so I bought a new set. They snapped in place solidly, but they need trimmed to seat all the way in properly. SEE PHOTO BELOW Fog light trims stick out a little. They need trimmed to seat back in all the way. Chrome is in poor condition around lower grill at left, too. This concludes the "UGLY" section. REBUILT TITLE I stumbled upon this vehicle in the inventory of a big dealership in Alabama. It caught my eye because it was listed as a "salvage" vehicle (hence a better price), but did not have any appearent damage. We called and discovered it was owned by the insurance company and they were willing to take an offer, so we drove down the next day (2008). My friend loved it so he paid the man the cash and we drove it home to Ohio. The previous owner had a very generous insurance adjuster. The only damage was the front bumper which did not even need replaced just repaired. In Ohio the State Highway Patrol must inspect vehicles to verify any parts replaced were purchased legally. They couldn't believe that no parts were replaced. They had never seen this before. This initiated a month long wait while the Ohio State Highway patrol waited for photos of the car from the insurance company. They finally got the photos proving NO DAMAGE! and awarded a "rebuilt title." My friend made a simple "skid plate" to repair a crack underneath the front bumper. The front bumper was sanded, primed and repainted to get rid of scratches and nicks. That's it! SEE PHOTOS BELOW ORIGINAL BUMPER! Sanded down. PRIMED PAINTED! (See skid plate at bottom in center) MANY MORE PHOTOS The weather did not cooperate, but got the photos! All photos are of the actual Audi A6 you are bidding on. New model styling. Huge Trunk Driver's Door Panel. Notice memory controls for power seat. Push compartment(s) function as new. All power windows work great. Rear door panel. Seat covers being installed. Passenger door panel. Push compartments(s) work great here, too. Rear passenger door panel. Original safety equipment present. Climb in and take off. It'll handle any road conditions. It's an Audi. Some scratches on rear bumper. Original wheels have some scratches. Powered Moon Roof Chrome and black. Just like the newest models. DELIVERY Fly in and drive home.
