1928 MODEL A.....2 DOOR SEDAN RUNS, DRIVES, STOPS VERY GOOD NEW TIRES....NEW INTERIOR NICE CHROME+++CLEAR GLASS VIN A256420 and the engine is has the same numbers, the engine number was the VIN in those days, "its the original engine, matching numbers". HISTORY: I am a car restorer, but I did not restore this car. I'm 65 years old and have found that I can buy nice cars, check them out, fix a few things and sell them cheaper than I can restore them for. Thats the case on this nice Model A, a old man in in Jacksonville, Florida bought this car out of Indiana and did a nice restoration job. He got to old to enjoy and drive it so he sold it to his nephew that lives just north of me here in east Tennessee. The nephew is about 60 years old, he had a 1949 pickup truck project started and needed the money from the sell of the Model A to spend on the truck. He had owned the Model A for about 3 years. The car was restored before he bought it so the restoration is at least 4 years old. TITLE: Clear Flordia title in hand, you will have no problems with registration. IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS? No real rust problems, no rusty holes and the underside has no rust issues in the frame or floors, he did not under coat anything on the underside, it not show car shinny, but solid, it has some suface rust color, but no metal problems. IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find. WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a classic car restorer, but when I find a vehicle I like and can sell for a fair market price, I buy it fix a few things and resell. PAINT: It has no rust, no dents and it has a brillant shine. I call this type of paint job a drive and enjoy quality, its good, but if you look for a spec or tiny flaw you will find very minor ones. The car is straight to look down the sides, has no runs and no flaking off! The paint is good, but not a $15,000 show car paint job, it shines great, the door jambs were painted, the would be considered very nice by most people. CHROME: The radiator grill shell is super nice (no dulling and rust pitts), the headlights and other chrome is very nice. The only real blemish I see in the bright work is the lower rear drivers side bumper has a little spot with peeling chrome (look at my picture of the rear) and if you look real hard a few tiny pitts in the bumpers. INTEROR: Interior is nice everywhere you look, its a new kit from headliner to door panels. UNSERSIDE: No rust problems, but not detailed and painted, surface rusty looking metal, but no holes and it is solid. GLASS: All the glass is nice, its clear and not milky, the side windows roll up and down decent. TOP AND RUNNING BOARDS: The top is very good, the running boards are nice. SOUND SYSTEM: Roll the window down and hear the engine purr. AIR CONDITIONING: Roll the windshield out. ENGINE: It’s a 4 cylinder flathead that runs good, past owner said it was rebuilt, but I have no documentation. Its a Model A and will leave oil drops on your clean floor, its just the way they were in 1928. EXHAUST SYSTEM: Very good condition, almost new, its the right muffler to give the Model A sound. TRANSMISSION: 3 speed manual that shifts as it should, these did not have a synchronized 1st gear. REAR-END: Original and is in good condition with no whines or growls. BRAKES: Mechanical brakes, “no juice, no hydraulics”. The brakes are OK for a Model A. STEERING: The steering linkage is good, the car drives good, well by good I mean good for a model A. WHEELS AND TIRES : Tires look very good with no cracks and have lots of tread left, the wheels are original rims and the hubcaps shinny. LIGHTS and wiring: The head lights work, the tail lights work. HORN WORKs! ! THE GAS GAUGE WORKS! HOW FAST WILL THE CAR GO! It will go faster, but a good cursing speed is about 40 miles per hour. . GUAGES: Fuel gauge and amp gauge work. HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? They open and close good, Model A Fords hang over on the rear! DEFECTS AND PROBLEMS: These are just what I remember off the top of my head! 1. Paint nice drive and enjoy quality with a few minor blemishs if you look for them. 2. The underside is not rusted out, but needs under coated or painted. GOOD STUFF: 1. Solid body. 2. New interior. 3. Great tires. 4. Nice drive and enjoy paint. 5. Lights and horn work. 6. Good chrome and glass. 7. Runs very good. 8. Starts real good. 9. Good wide-white-wall tires. 10. Its no rust bucket. NOTE::::::::::::::::This is a very nice Model A, I will take $14,600 through ebay motors and $14,400 if you buy direct. Its nice, but you don't get a perfect $40,000 for this price, you get a nice upper-end driver car that looks good and runs good. TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard! The rest of the information is boring unless you are really interested in buying the vehicle, its just buying details like shipping, paperwork, who I am, where the car is located and how to pay and contact information. CONTACT INFO: my cell telephone number is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about 8:00 PM Eastern Time or on Sunday morning or Sunday nights. Please leave a voice mail and I’ll get back. I do check my emails several times a day. cell 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a Tennessee licensed/bonded car dealer and have sold cars all over the US and exported many. THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR SALE ON THE LOCAL MARKET. WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in Athens, Tennessee. Athens is in east Tennessee, we are 50 miles south of Knoxville and 50 miles north of Chattanooga. Look at a Road Atlas and follow interstate 75 south from Knoxville. I live one mile and one turn from the interstate exit. My zip code is 37303. The closest large airport is Knoxville. Athens does have a good small airport, but has no commercial flights. WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of Athens, Tennessee “Athens is called the friendly city”. We are located in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee “I am truly qualified to be called a Hill Billy”. I am 65 years old and work with my son Keith who is now 39. I am now retired and living my dream restoring, selling and improving classic cars. For 12 years I was an auto mechanics instructor at Tennessee Technology Center here in Athens. I am also a veteran of the US Army; I served as a Chinook helicopter mechanic, crew chief and instructor in the late 60s, I did spend a year in Vietnam. I’m Southern Baptist faith and proud to be an American. I’ve been married to the same good woman for almost 42 years. LIFE IS GOOD IN THE GREEN HILLS OF EAST TENNESSEE! TRANSPORT: EBAY MOTORS gives 3 instant transport quotes if you click on the link on my listing. US OR EXPORT “the best”: Classic Car Transport, LLC: This is a very good company that will handle any type of transport in the US or overseas with the white glove treatment. They are located in Kansas City. For US shipping call: Jeremy at 913-749-0936 Email jeremyw@classiccartransport.com For export call: Bill at 913-749-0930 Email billc@classiccartransport.com MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for Athens, Tennessee is 37303. I live 1 mile off a major interstate (I-75) and 35 miles south of interstate 40, so transport is usually very fast. PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car. I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment. Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face. Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had a fake bank certified check. Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a member of the US Federal Reserve, this is called wire transfer. And its safe for both of us. WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Not without a $250 non-refundable deposit! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”. INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 64 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are unpredictable, you might get a good one, but most of them do not impress me at all, most really don’t know what to look at, they make a good car sound bad on the report. They have to be very critical to cover their back sides and all their concerned about is getting paid. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first! BOTTOM LINE: My firm price is $14,600 through ebay motors and I will take $14,400 direct "THIS IS MY LOWEST PRICE".. I am asking $16,600 on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down. WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A LOT OF NERVE AND PLEASE DON’T BE A CRY BABY. Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info. Thank You, Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.
