Vehicle Detail

1963 Triumph Spitfire Recently discovered in long term hibernation Recently the expression 'barn find' has come into vogue to describe cars that may or may not have actually spent any time inside of said farm structure. Apparently the idea of finding a car in some leaky, dilapidated outbuilding has strong appeal to many. In contrast, the better cars are actually 'garage finds'. These are cars that have been tucked away for some indeterminate period of time inside safe, dry garages. In most cases these cars were loved enough that they merited inside storage. The car I'm selling here spent more time next to a John Deere riding mower than it ever did next to an actual tractor and believe me, it's the better for it. This 1963 Triumph Spitfire 4 (not to be confused with the later Mark IV) has managed to live somewhat of a charmed life. It was recently discovered in the garage of its long term owner. The reason for the car being mothballed is a long one, but what was so amazing was that with gas in the tank from over a decade ago, the car started instantly with a shot of ether and ran smoothly until we chose to turn it off. Close inspection reveals the car is an original white with red interior Spitfire. The car had received one, slightly brighter paint job in its history, but evidence is everywhere of the factory white. What makes the car truly remarkable is the rust-free panels and underside. Although there are no records or documentation that come with the car, it's obvious that it spent its life in a very dry climate. The pictures of the underside and nooks and cranies attest to the car's honest nature. If you're looking for the 'right' early Spitfire to restore or do an easy sympathetic mechanical restoration, I can't imagine a better car to start with. While the car starts, runs, drives, and brakes right now, its long hibernation means that it must be mechanically sorted before it can be truly considered driveable. There are new tires (to make the car easily transported), and it can be driven on and off a trailer with ease. The great part about these early Triumphs is that parts are readily available, inexpensive, and the cars themselves are dead easy to work on. Feel free to ask any questions. I would be happy to assist in shipping the car internationally, but you must make your own arrangements.
