1965 Thunderbird Convertible. Mild Custom. Built Big Block 390 FE. Runs and drives strong. Holley 670 Street Avenger carb, Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold, MSD Ignition, Rebuilt front and rear ends, brakes, calipers, new brake lines and hoses, booster, proportioning valve, updated to dual master cylinder. New fuel lines and fuel tank. Lightweight McRobb high torque starter, re-cored radiator, new tires, exhaust (2.5 inch true duals (see pic) with faux masters), carpet and so on... Convertible top is complete, used to work, does not work now. I don't use it. One flipper door hinge has a bad spot weld and came loose. Because of the issue with the top, choose your shipping options carefully. It may be possible to override the top to raise it for shipping, but right now it is stowed. Power windows are a mixed bag of working/not working, I don't use those either. The two door windows work, the left rear is stuck in the up position (not pictured as I removed the unit) the right rear is sluggish. The radio is an aftermarket unit, it works and plays through the rear speaker option (with Tbird flourish btw). I have the original AM unit, it will come with the car and can be converted to whatever your little heart desires. However, the sweetest music comes from the engine, not the radio. The car also comes equipped with the 'Safety and Convenience Group' option and the reclining passenger seat with headrest option. I believe headrest option was another first for the 1965 T-Bird Another detail to notice is that I have attached an authentic M-code Bird emblem to the aftermarket oval air cleaner assembly. This can be seen in the motor pics. The power steering is making a noise during right turns like there is air in the system. The neutral safety switch is touchy and you need to hold up the shift lever into Park firmly to start. No big deal, but I replaced the original switch with a repop as a short term fix due to a vacuum leak, as a longer term fix, I bought an NOS switch (not cheap) and it will come with the car, you can install and adjust it. Some of these things came back to mind as I was starting and driving the car around the block...what also came to mind is that this is a fun car to drive... Odometer reads 38,980. How many times it has rolled over is unknown. I put once. I have owned the car for 6 years and put 15,913 miles on it, 15,490 since the engine was professionally rebuilt by Danbury Competition Engines. I run Sunoco Ultra exclusively, but the engine was setup to run on regular unleaded gas during the build. Door tag info. Body = 76A (convertible); Color = B (Midnight Turquoise Metallic); Trim = P7 (Turquoise/White); Date = 13K; DSO = 12 (Buffalo); Axle = 1 (3.00); Trans = 4 (3 speed Cruise-o) 1965 was the first year for sequential turn signals and front disk brakes. This is a driver quality car and paint, paint has chips here and there, needs a little work, needs front bumper and grill, left front turn signal and left headlight bezels, and a front end alignment. There is some bondo around rear wheel wells and a floor patch on driver's side. Hot rod? Maybe, but I think it is a mild custom. definitely, not just another Mustang. She will give you a good kick in the pants and cruise on the highway. As is, where is. Listed for sale locally, subject to availability.
