1964 Mercedes-Benz 220sb Fintail sedan NO RESERVE Backround: Mechanically the car is perfect. Interior is wonderful shape for a fintail of this era. everything is complete, no missing trim. The trim missing on the tails,between the tailights, and front and back windshields are in my posession. They are off because the car was going to be painted. The car is an original california car, (see pics). i have the original dealer service book, and misc papers from when it was bought new. The records indicate that at sometime in the 80's it was taken to Apache junction, Arizona. where it then had 56,000miles. It was stored in a shed for many years and then brought out of storage to be restored and driven. I brought the car out of storage and had the entire chassis gone through INTENSIVELY to make sure it would be started right. Since ive had it ive put no more than 1,4xx miles on the car. 250+ pictures here: had a 220se badge at the time, I put the original 220s badge back if you were wondering Body: great shape. no major dings, just those little suckers here and there on the door area. NO structual rust on the car, rare for a w111!. all chrome trim is is good shape and I have all the pieces. all lights and accesorys work. original undercoating. the trunk was fiberglassed at the wheel wells by a reputable body shop to prevent future rust from developing. all body drains were cleared out fully to prevent water pooling. New tires. No accidents or bondo work. was resprayed once lightly sometime in the past. the colors on the roof is from where the paint cracked and rust started to develop, I sanded all the rust off and just used some bulk paint to temporarily protect the metal. Needs a good quality paintjob. Perfect working Euro head lamps Brakes/ Chassis: New rotors, pads, bearings and seals on the front end. as well as subframe mounts, all new shocks, sway bar links, tie rods, rubber brake lines, master cylinder, and booster check valve. New motor mounts, trans mount, Flex disc and center support bushing. New modulator diaphram and filter on transmission. New rear axle boot & differential mount and wheel cylinders. pivot points lubricated as always. rebuilt P/S gearbox with new filter on pump. Steering coupler bushings (no slop on wheel). new shift linkage bushings. The rear axle, front axle arms, steering box, A/T, and engine numbers all match the original mercedes build sheet. LED lightbulbs were installed in place of the tungsten bulbs in the rear in order to increase night time visiblity. Gas tank was removed and cleaned,and a new fuel screen was used. An electric fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, and filters were installed. New tires all around including spare Interior: very good shape, some minor flaws. (small tear in Drivers seat and weathered top of back bench seat, and the back parcel shelf is weathered.) headliner is perfect, door panels are perfect, and the wood all around is perfect. The dash pad is excellent .All chrome is there, all switches and lamps work. speedo, trip counter and ODO work fine. heater blower motor works, but cores were bypassed due to a small heater valve drip. Has becker new mexico classic radio and original speaker. clock works but needs lubrication (if you flick it it will wind and run for several minutes). Glovebox is perfect. has seatbelts and optional third front seat. Has Kuhlmeister A/C unit installed with everything beside compressor. windshield wiper and foot switch work. original washer foot pump works. all original sekurit glass except the front windshield. all windows operate as they should. same with door locks and assorted mechanisms. Limo (5%) on all windows to preserve the interior, as well as provide a nice look. original front carpet and floor mats. The p/o put awful green carpet in the rear for some reason?. new front and rear windshield seals. Good door seals all around. doesnt drip in water during rainstorms. Engine: Original block. 64,xxx true miles. Doesnt leak oil. The head was rebuilt with new guides, 3 angle valve job.& New head gasket, valve cover gasket, Timing chain, chain guide, and chain tensioner were replaced. New thermostat, gaskets, hoses. New water pump. new intake/exhaust manifold gasket and nuts. New exhaust header sealing rings and bolts. Original zenith carbs were rebuilt with new accel pump, float and related componets. Recored radiator with new rad cap. all new v-belts. new plugs and wires. rebuilt original distributor. fitted with electronic ignition . high voltage coil. Original generator rebuilt (new bearings & brushes, armature cleaned). Just had the head retorqued , valves adjusted and oil changed 300 miles after the rebuilt head was installed. Transmission: Original 4spd auto. shifts very crisp and smooth. no noises, leaks Title is clean and in hand A beautiful paintjob is all this car really needs Before Bidding: buyer responsible for all shipping / processing charges.
