I purchased this vehicle two years ago from the original owner with about 90,000 miles on it. The original owner has lived in Seal Beach Leisure world since the car was new and is no longer able to drive. Original California car. In car port since new. (I bought it for my son, who travels extensively out of the US. He put about 5000 miles on the car the last two years.) The exterior is straight. No accidents ever. The front driver fender has a rust through spot. (I purchased a replacement fender, but have not installed it. This extra fender goes with the car when sold. The front door got caught in a little wind storm and has a small dent area as it whipped open into a fence. The door handle is slightly sticky. Undercarriage is clean without rust etc. The exterior is otherwise remarkable. The interior looks almost new. The beautiful seats and dash are amazing. No rips or tears in seats. Headliner is in good condition (it is original and not sagging) except in the back pillars where it is ripped apart over the trunk. Mechanically excellent. The six digit odometer, still working and never repaired, showing the actual miles at approximately 95,000. The original radio and tape player work. The original clock still accurate. All gauges work. Heater works. No AC. Suspension is tight. No rattles or noises. Transmission 4-speed manual works perfectly. Clutch excellent. Engine makes no noises. I just drove it up to Utah where my son was going to drive it but plans have changed! Other than about the last 800 miles it has resided it's entire life in California. Just serviced (the thermostat was replaced - it was sticking open intermittently) It took the mechanics a couple of days to get it to fail! Two new tires with less than 5 miles on them! (Yes, only about 2 miles from the Discount Tire shop to where the car is parked! The tire warranty transfers to the new owner) The other two tires are excellent. The spare is brand new with the nubs on it. The vehicle got just over 50 miles per gallon on the drive from San Diego to Provo UT. Modest reserve. Thanks! I made an error in the listing because my 912E doesn't have AC and I never drove the Rabbit during summer! AC is great! On Mar-29-12 at 10:09:23 PDT, seller added the following information: When I bought the vehicle in June, 2010, I took it to my German repair shop, KB Motorsports in San Marcos CA. KB charged me $1,381.80 to do the following: Repair AC Repace Rear Wheel cylinder and bakes shoes and seals (rear brakes) Replace engine mounts Replace heater valve New Front suspension (struts, strut mounts, Strut stop) Replace brake fluid. Replace starter. REpack wheel bearings. Adjust e-brake. Lube window channels. The previous owner had stated that she the timing belt had been replaced within a few months of the sale. KB did a visual inspection of the belt and determined it to be in proper condition.
