Vehicle Detail
1972 GMC Sierra 2500 truck 2wd Big Block AZ / GA truck Cheyenne Chevy Click Images to Enlarge 1972 GMC 2500 2wd, factory big block. I have had this truck for 12 years, driven it off and on, and it is now time to sell. Too many projects and I also have a 72 4wd that I want to build. This one needs to go as I don’t have any dry space to keep it. Overall, this is a very complete, original, and unmolested southern truck. It was in Arizona until 1987, and still has Mexico Tourism decals in the window. I think this truck is a Sierra trim level. It is the GMC equivalent of a 72 Cheyenne. Originally equipped with a 402 big block and turbo 400 trans. I replaced the 402 a few years ago with a very low mileage 454 and Turbo 400 from a 1981 GM motor home. The engine has only about 35K original miles. Has not been rebuilt, but I did completely reseal it, clean, and paint it back Chevy orange when I installed it. All original, short water pump AC brackets, the intake, carb, and valve covers are the originals from the 402. It has also been changed over to HEI ignition. Holds very good oil pressure, and doesn’t smoke, knock, or rattle. The truck has a factory Dana 60, leaf spring rear. 3.54 gears, so it hits the highway well. I changed the rims to mid-eighties vintage 16” steel rims to replace the obsolete 16.5’s that it came with. Originally from Arizona, it isn’t rust free, but is much more solid than most. The truck has rust in outer rockers, but the inners are fine. Floors are nice, and still have blue paint on them. Under body cab mounts / braces are perfect. There may be a very small area of rust starting in cab corners, but it this point, just small pimples. The rest of the cab still looks very solid, and doors are rust free, even on the inside. Bed is straighter than most inside, but has surface rust. It will clean up fine. Only other area on the truck that is a real problem is the right front fender. It has rust on the front below battery, and behind tire. I would just replace that fender if I restored the truck. Interior is completely intact and original. Still has original carpet, which is really shot as it is dry rotted. Original AM radio is in dash. Doesn’t work. Seat is original Cheyenne style cover, but separated on driver’s side. The truck drives nice and tight. It only has about 98K miles showing, and although I know it to be inaccurate as the speedometer was broken for a while when I first got the truck, I believe that the miles are not that far beyond what is showing. Also, the gas gauge doesn’t work. I think the sending unit is bad in the tank. The truck does have factory air conditioning, but it doesn’t work. I have all of it, but the compressor is off and is stuck. Will be a core only. Please LOOK AT THE PICTURES VERY CLOSELY. I have taken care to capture everything that I think is important on these trucks, but if you want something else, please let me know. ASK QUESTIONS before bidding. I have a very reasonable reserve on the truck, and it is nowhere near what I have in it. If you bid, please realize that you are bidding to own it. PAPERWORK: This truck has been registered to me since I bought it twelve years ago. I have the title, but because GA doesn’t require a title on pre-1985 vehicles, it was not transferred from the previous owner. The title is an open title, from 1987, and was signed by the previous owner. It has no buyer info filled out, so the new buyer can fill it out in their name. Terms: I will expect a $500 deposit by PayPal within 48 hours of auction end. The remainder can be paid in person, at the time of pickup. The full payment for truck must be made within two weeks or by pickup, whichever comes first. The truck can stay here for up to 4 weeks if you need it, as long as it is paid for. If any of that is a concern for you, feel free to call me at 770-778-4353. The buyer is solely responsible for shipping and any related charges, but I would be willing to pick the buyer up from the airport if you wish to drive it home, or arrange to meet a transport company for pickup. Also, if you do not plan on meeting me in person for pickup, please call me to arrange final payment for the vehicle so that we can discuss it. If you do decide to drive the truck home, keep in mind that it is a 40 year old truck with a thirsty 454 engine. I am not afraid to drive the truck anywhere, but I can NOT guarantee anything about it. I do believe you could drive it home. andale andalesell Click Images to Enlarge Payment Options: Money Order/Cashiers Checks ,PayPal Shipping Options: Domestic shipping: See item description for Shipping Charges.
