Vehicle Detail
THIS IS A EUROPEAN IMPORT SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS A "GRAY MARKET" CAR. It has been titled in the US for over 25 years and this has no issues at all other than CARFAX and others will not have a database on it. It shouldn't really matter (in my opinion) as it's a 31 year old car anyway. The pluses about it being a European import is: more horsepower from the factory, no smog equipment, nice side markers on the front quarter panel 1981 Porsche 911 SC Widebody, also known as Turbo Look. I don't know the total history of the car but I got it from what I believe to be the 3rd owner (local carguy from my same hometown) in some trading we were doing. He owned it for about 10 years. Odometer shows 71,xxx miles (not sure if it's correct but no reason to believe other wise except for the fact that the car is 31 years old.The car is not a show car but is in very respectable condition. With a little TLC could be really nice. The Good: Perfect condition custom off set wheels w/Porsche Crest-Not sure of the brand but there isn't a nick or scratch anywhere. Interior in well above average condition. Everything works, including the sunroof and clock! Cold AC $2,000+ stereo (sounds better than the factory one I have in both my wife's BMW and my Mercedes!) Glossy Paint, no rust at all Runs out very strong, seems to have great compression (haven't checked-just guessing by the way it runs!) Could use attention: Rubber around windshield is dry rotting-could use replacing. Rubber in between the front bumper and the body of car on right side is torn/drying out. Typical older 911 oil leak-not to too bad but after a spirited runs leaves 4 or 5 drops on the floor-I have been just putting something down under it. Could use a set of tires soon-tread is above 50% but I'm guessing they may have some years on them. There is a custom rear deck to hold the 6 x 9 speakers that needs recovering. PLEASE ask questions....I'm not a photographer, ad writer and I'm especially not a Porsche mechanic or any kind of mechanic for that matter. I have owned a lot of cars over the years and had two 911 SC's many years ago as well as lots of BMW's. Serious parties should come look at the car if it's feasible and I don't mind talking with anyone in detail about it as long as there is real interest in the car, just sending me a message and I'll be glad to send my cell number to you. Thanks for looking, it a real head turner. Will consider trades for a V-Drive Mastercraft or Nautique (I can add cash as well for a nice boat) On Mar-23-12 at 13:35:56 PDT, seller added the following information: Friday 3-23-2012-I just took the car out for a nice Friday afternoon drive and when I went to reset the trip odometer it no longer registers. The speedometer still works just doesn't register miles.
