Vehicle Detail
From my oversized collection, for sale here is my nice BMW R100RT in the rarest of colors - Amazonian Green. When new, we simply called this color "Amazon Green", which is one of the "smoke" colors from the 70's and early 80's in which BMW's high end bikes were available. There was Orange Smoke on the R90S, Red Smoke, and then the amazing Amazon Green Smoke. It's an emerald green with black "faded in" around the edges. Everybody back then either loved it or hated it. I happened to love it, and wanted one since then. Noted dealer and vintage BMW expert, Marc Rotker, listed this bike a couple years ago and I bought it from him. My "buy it now" is the same price I paid for it, maybe even $100 less. Mechanically the bike is very good - I rode it 300 miles the first day I owned it without a hiccup. The engine, brakes, tranny, and suspension all do what they are supposed to do. Cosmetically, the bike is excellent for it's age, but there is road rash and some "brush touch up" in the correct color, however the smoked edge treatment on the fairing makes the touch-up more noticeable than a solid color. The metallic gold hand pin striping is a bit faded as is usual on even the most well cared for slash 7 bikes. The tops of the saddle bags are a little sun worn also, but are otherwise fine. Judging by the condition of the levers and the minimal wear on the sides of the fuel tank (where your pants rub) I believe the mileage shown in the odometer is real. You have a choice of the stock seat shown or a beautiful Corbin Dual seat which your lady passenger would appreciate should you be lucky enough to have a willing traveling companion. If you choose to fly in and ride home, I will pay to have Bob Bancroft (our local vintage BMW specialist - 30+ years experience) go through the bike and I'll also buy you a new battery. I can either pick you up at the Cleveland, Pittsburgh, or Akron-Canton airport. If you are seriously ready to buy and want to put your mind at ease about something, you can call me at my office. The number is (330) 797-9291 and ask for me, Bob Hockenberry. Tell whoever answers your interested in my motorcycle and you'll get through. On Mar-16-12 at 07:30:37 PDT, seller added the following information: A question came up about my comment stating "road rash" and I want to clarify by that, I am describing stone chips in the paint, mostly on the lowest parts of the fairing. The bike has no signs of any damage history, let alone existing damage - All the fairing parts are perfectly intact. Bob
