Vehicle Detail

I have for sale a 1968 Ford Mustang Convertible. It has what appears to be the original 289 engine, with a 3 speed automatic transmission, power steering, and a power top (which works great). It is still the original color, a rare seafoam green, and appears to have been repainted at one time, several years ago. It seems to have the original black convertible top on it at the present time, but comes with a brand new black convertible top and rear window still in the box, that needs to be installed. It has the original interior, which still looks pretty good for it's age. It looks like one of the front seats may have had an insert put in it at one time. It still has the original AM radio in it (which works good). The body of the car is in decent condition with just a small amount of paint bubbling at the bottom of the rear 1/4 panels (noted in pictures), and some touched up places in the paint (the largest of which, is on the driver"s side rear 1/4 panel, and also noted in pictures). You do not notice it from a few feet away. The undercarriage looks good. It appears to have had a couple of patch panels put in very nicely at one time, and undersealed so it looks nice, and won't rust. The trunk is very solid, and still has the original trunk mat still in it. It also has the original stickers on the inside of the trunk lid. The glass in the car, and the chrome around the windows and top are all in great condition. The bumpers and emblems appear to be original, and are very presentable for a driver type car. It would be an easy restoration if you wanted to make it show quality. I just traded for it a few months ago, and chose to enjoy it as it is for now. It is a lot of fun to drive and enjoy. And it gets a lot of compliments where ever you go. It is a very original type car, and the color is pretty rare, especially on the convertibles. It is a real light green color, almost white. It still has the stock spinner wheel covers and has whitewall tires. The engine appears to be the original 289, and may have been rebuilt at some point, because there is absolutely no blow by or smoking problems. The transmission shifts smoothly. The car only has 105,000 miles on it. The car has a lot of newer parts on it, such as fuel pump, coil, etc. It has had all new brakes put on recently, including all new brake lines and brake drums all the way around. Needless to say, it stops very good and straight. The car runs and drives great, but had been sitting awhile till recently, and may need the carburetor cleaned or adjusted, as it sometimes idles a little rough, and sometimes has a slight hesitation upon acceleration. The carburetor appears to be the original, with the tag still on it. The car handles very well. It has no rattles or bangs going down the road. It wouldn't have driven much, if any, better when it was new. All of the electrical system is in very good condition, with the wipers and horn all working properly. All the lights and gauges work very good, even the inside courtesy lights, the back up lights, and the shift indicator lights still work. This is a very nice driving car, and I am not afraid to drive it anywhere. It is a very good car to drive as it is, or if you prefer, to give a full restoration. That would depend on whether you are looking for a cool car to get out and cruise in, or looking for a restoration piece. It does not have a lot of the problems that you usuallly find in old Mustangs. It is just a presentable, drive anywhere car that you can have a lot of fun with. If you want a show car, it will need a cosmetic restoration, but fully functional to drive now. This is a driver quality car.
